View Full Version : Front brake rotor help
I'm replacing the left front brake rotor due to damage. When I pulled it off the spline, the retaining nut was barely finger tight. Is this correct? I realize that overtighning will bind the bearings, but does anyone know a torque value?
Thanks in advance,
Ken

Ken,
I don't have the manual in front of me, but the procedure is to torque to around 40 while turning the rotor to seat the bearing and then loosen and retighten hand tight.

The book lists a 3 step evetn to set them, but it ends up around 11ft lbs I think.. I just turn the rotor the opposite direction and snug it a little. Breaings self clearance:D

I believe I used a 23mm socket on that one.
Its amazing how many huge metric sockets you collect working on motorcycles... I need automatic payroll deduction for Sears.

The biggest I had was 23 and it wouldn't fit. Thanks!
