In terms of HP ratings....The '99-2000 L's were rated at 360HP and 440TQ. The '01-current L's are rated at 380HP and 450TQ, due to the upgraded MAF(80mm-90mm) and wider intercooler core. The '01-current L's also came from the factory with 3.73's -vs- 3.55's, which provided a little more oomph in terms of launch and throttle response.
However, In modified form, if you take two identically modded L's, one '99 -vs- one '02(both with aggressive tunes), they will run very close. I'd venture to say that most of the guys that post regularly on this forum have solid consistent mid-lo 12 second trucks with bolt-ons and stock longblocks, and probably make b/w 380 and 420 rwhp/ 480 and 520 rwtq. The cooler it is, the stronger they run.;)
There are also a few of us that push the envelope a little more. You have to keep in mind that it's A LOT more difficult to make a 5000lb brick run low 12's, as opposed to a 3500lb car, but that's also part of the FUN! My L has run a best 1/8 of 7.49 at 90.69mph at Kennedale in 69*/60% humidity. Two weeks ago at Ennis, it went an 11.994 at 113.16mph in 80*/90% humidity, w/ a 7.62 1/8 mi. This is on the stock long block with bolt-ons and a Kenne Bell Twin Screw Blower at 15psig...(487rwhp/575rwtq). In good cool air, she should go some solid 11.70's or so. Anyway, hope this info helps...:tu:
Take it easy,
