Many thanks Terry for hooking my gauges up. They are SSSWWWWWEEEETTTT!!!!!!!! I really dig the EGT. But I did have a q. I think you told me that the exhaust temp. should not exceed 1400 degrees. Is this at cruise or WOT??? The reason I asked is that on the highway at about 70 mph it held steady at about 1200 degrees, only to climb swiftly to right at 1400 at about 3/4 to full throttle :eek2: Based on what you told me I plugged up the predator and gave it the full 10% fuel enrichment. This is supposed to equate to about a 1 point drop in the a/f ratio. Im not sure where it put it but it definitely richened the mutha up. The EGT now read 1000 degrees at 70mph and now 1150 at WOT. But it would lay down after a few seconds at WOT. So I went back in and reset the fuel at 2%. Now its at 1175 at 70mph but at WOT its only at about 1300 :tu: . I think I got it just about where it needs to be without putting it on a dyno. I suppose the cooler air is causing lean condition, which would explain the fuel enrichment. Not gonna touch the timing until I dyno it. But its still rollin pretty good the way it is. Many thanks again Terry. :bows

You crack me up T Dog. I believe damage to valves and seats occurs over 1350 deg if I remember right. I will look it up again sometime.

I use an exhaust temp gage and I will tell you that the first numbers you mentioned above where the correct ones. After the adjustments you made, it is now less than optimal. On piston engines EGT readings of 1300-1500 are common at the max power mixture. You can also change the EGT's with timing changes.
