I'm sure some of you guys remember this. We were innovators in that we were the first to do this...the rest of the country followed suit. It may be time to try another one. I just thought I'd throw a feeler out there to see if there is any interest. Post up if you're interested and we'll begin working on finding a place and date to do it.

If we can't use Doug's work bldg again I probably could get mine to let us. Its only two stories high. I'm not sure if the angle would be great enough to get all the trucks in the pic.

Cool  !

Doug, Steve, go ahead and ask. I'll ask over here as well. We've got a 3-story parking garage and an 8-story building beside it. It's better to have options in case one of us cannot come up with a spot.

We could also use the large parking lot on the other side of my building and just get on top of the parking garage to take the pictures (we won't need any permission to go there!). I'll scope the area and see if it's good. If it is we can set up to do this in Richardson. May not be convenient, so we could reconsider.

And Doug...this time bring your truck!! :tu:

OK, I checked out the site near our parking garage by my building. It may be a great spot. We could probably get it set up for 15-20 wide if we want to. All we have to contend with is some small trees in the parking lot. The lot also slopes downward toward the parking garage, so we can probably stack the trucks pretty deep as well, and still get a pretty good shot. If needbe, we can adjust the angle of the picture as well, since the parking garage is 5 levels. I'll get some pics and post them up tomorrow.

No permission needed for this one. I think we're golden there.

Doug, we should still provide options and vote. I know Richardson is a haul for some of the guys. As long as we give notice we should get a pretty good turnout anywhere we go.

Should we make this madatory for all membership, otherwise they get :banned ?? :rll:

It is a haul but then...It's a shorter haul to Bonedaddy's after that. Can we get some Harleys in the photo? I don't have my Gen 1 anymore:crying: If not, I understand.

It will definitely not be during the week. :nono: We would have no participation if we did that. I'm shooting for mid to late February to set this up (if that's agreeable to the masses), but we need to decide on a location to do it at. There's still some planning that will need to happen before we do this, so keep your eyes on this forum.

I got the green light from the GM today to use our office in Lewisville. Its right off 35/Corporate and Hooters is right down the street for lunch and brews after.

We'll need to take care of the maintenace guy who will open up for us on Saturday/Sunday for roof access.

The height of the building still may be an issue but I let the photogs determine that. Parking lot is plenty deep so it may not be an issue.

OK, here is the site by Nortel.

Pic from the 4th floor of the parking garage:

Pic from the 5th floor of the parking garage:

http://www.svtgalleries.net/gallery/data/500/265_floor.JPG

Here's the parking garage, and we have 3 other levels to choose from. You can also kind of see the slope of the parking lot down toward the garage:

http://www.svtgalleries.net/gallery/data/500/26DCP_1921.JPG

As you can see, there is plenty of room and we shouldn't have to worry about getting kicked off the site because the building this is adjacent to is not occupied. There are also a few other angles we could take the pics from. What do you guys think?

4-5 truck between the trees, and there are 3 rows or trees, so we could get 16-20 trucks across if we want to go really wide. We may want to try to situate the trucks with one row of trees in between. That way we can fit more trucks into the first row. We can situate when we get there, if we select this site.

the angle of the lot will help some in the appearance of the truck BUT the area with the stars in my version is NOT acceptable for trucks.. They will be obscured by the trees. The area with the painted grass is the only really usable space...

We should expect and plan for a MUCH larger turnout -

Lets say 50 trucks...

What if we surround the trees on one side. I'll take another pic and show you what I mean. If we don't like it, we can look for another place. I'll post in a few minutes.

OK here we go. We could get 3 trucks on either side of the trees if we park like I did, or we might get 4 on each side if we park north to south. If we center the picture on the trees we could minimize the trees. I leave it up to you. We have time to plan this out and find the best spot, so if we want to keep looking let's do that.

Visually that looks betterWe could also center the shot on the area with red scribble over it (sorry, I don't have the ability to put asthetically appealing grass or stars on pictures). 4-6 trucks wide as far as the eye can see. Do you want to plan on using this site or continue looking?

I think that I like the idea of the red squiggles, but i dont think that even a branch of a tree should be able to cover a truck. Or at least I wouldnt want one to cover my truck.

Lets see what options we end up with - I am 90% sure I can use i2s lot again

Like I said before we need to prepare for 50 cars ....\

This pic is from lightning fest 03
There are approx 80 trucks here .... That lot was HUGE - I took the pic from about 6 stories up...

http://www.svtgalleries.net/gallery/data/507/317MVC-539F1-med.JPG

Here is last Group Picture 28 Trucks....

http://svtlightnings.com/talon/group%20picture450.jpg

To get 50+ all we have to do is use both "lanes" and we can easily get 50 or more in.... Ill also borrow Logans Higher res camera so we can print poster size pics .

If you look at the 2 pics one thing we can Clearly see is that the closer the trucks are to the camera the better the down angle is and the more of the rear trucks we will be able to see..

Let's fill that parking lot! We need to get as many as possible, because I personally would like to give that Lightningfest group pic a run for it's money. We could establish ourselves as the #1 local club in the country (gotta think big, baby!!). It'll probably be a pain in the ass getting everybody set up for the picture, but if we plan it out right we'll be OK.

Keep me posted and I'll start planning ideas on how to set up ahead of time.

I'll offer my planning services for this tremendous occasion. Let me know when you'd like to get together and we'll work it out. Should we assign a committee to this:rll: ?

I'll set up a sticky poll to have the masses vote on a date. I'm looking at choosing from Saturdays beginning Feb 21 (I figure Valentine's Day will be off limits for a lot of us....if we set this up for Feb 14, chances are we would have a few more "Women Suck" threads). What do you think of these dates:

Feb 21
Feb 28
Mar 6
?

That will give us a month to plan, minimum....and a month for people to clear their calendars.

Silver_2000

We can start the planning either here or on another thread.

We need:

1) My Truck - Last time it was at the dealer.:hammer:
2) 6 or so folks with some responsibility and radios to help wrangle the trucks on site
3) a Preplanned layout how you want the truck to look in the shot straight on like last year or some diff, more complicated, but potentially more visually appealing layout...
4) Lunch location after
5) Perhaps a cruise after lunch led by the PR team
6) More to follow

We will save lots of time this year 'cause I wont waste time trying to shoot the pictures thru the windows. We will get the layout set thru the windows of 6th floor then once we are close Ill go up to the roof and shoot the money shot...

We need to plan on 60 or more trucks - Those of you with 2 trucks should work with the folks here to arrange to get both onsite if possible

4) Lunch location after TBD
5) Perhaps a cruise after lunch led by the PR team PR team to coordinate :tu:
6) More to follow WE should put our heads together to see what else we need

Let's try to get a group of about 4-5 people to help plan this out, and I suggest we find a place to meet to begin throwing out ideas. I'll ask for volunteers in another thread.

http://www.svtgalleries.net/gallery/data/500/1groupshotmontagesm.jpg

The farthest I can stand over on the roof to the right is about halfway between the red rental extra cab and the group shot ... So we could line them up on both sides of the 2 light poles and should get 60 in easy....
