Who's all interested? This is an autocross, drag race, and road race event to TRULY SEE who's got the best LIGHTNING out there! There's an entire TRUCK class just for us.
I won Sedan class last year in my $6700 138,000 mile 94 Impala SS with an open diff, beating those overpriced BMW M3's in autocross AND road race! :)

ANYONE? Send the paste below over to the Dakota/Chevy boards too....if you dare. :P

See the paste below:
OK, nothing is in stone yet, but I have tentatively scheduled August 3-4,
2002, for this year's event. It will be at Motorsport Ranch (road course)
and Texas Motor Speedway (autocross). Equipe Rapide has been kind enough to
step up to the plate to run the A-X. I am awaiting word from the Motorplex,
but the proposed schedule will be Saturday A-X and Road Course (the latter
in conjunction with NASA Texas) and Sunday at the Motorplex. I will try to
arrange Friday practice at MSR.

What I would like is a tentative commitment of those who can & will make it,
as I have to make deposits for these venues and this is short notice (for
which I apologize).

Sing out, everyone!

I've wanted to do this for the last two years, but I was hoping for a cooler time of the year. The objective would be to run over as many Vettes and Vipers as possible and 100 degree weather would make it pretty difficult.

I think FFW is the 20-22 of September and SVT On Track is the following weekend. Very tempting, but there may be too many things going on to commit at this point.

Now maybe if I called in and got a free $5  Love Reading, one of their psychics could tell me how Go_rila would fare. Now just maybe I could be swayed. :p

I'd probably be up for this with the following caveat.

Same tires on all tracks. It’s pretty easy to pick up seconds on all tracks by changing tires.

And speaking of tires, as anyone tried to run Nascar tires on their Lightning yet?

I watched Sears Point yesterday and thought that they weight almost as much as our trucks..

Thinking out loud.

Nascar brakes,
15 inch rims
Nascar tires

Should be good for Auto-x, road course, and drag strip with all that sidewall.

Your caveat is already taken care of....

Since the true spirit of the event is "best all around street car/truck (in various classes)" ONLY street tires are allowed AND car must be driven to/fro each event (no trailering), must be registered, and *no tire changes* of any sort are allowed....

There is an "unlimited" class - but the big dollar boys are in that class - those cars may be trailered, etc...

I plan to compete on the F1's.....

The classes are something like:
SSGT1 (Sports cars over $35000 when new/retail) (Vipers, Z06's)
SSGT2 (Sports cars under $35000, when new/retail) (Camaros, Mustangs, Celicas, heh, Miatas.)
Touring 1 (Sedans over $35000) M3's, Mercedes...
Touring 2 (Sedans under $35000) Impala SS, SHO, Neons, etc (but my 94 SS beat the M3's in Touring 1, so I claimed "Sedan class winner" :P
Then SUV/Truck (all Trucks and Suvs) (Us, Dakotas, Silverados!) :)

Treadwear must be 100 or higher...the exact ruling is not posted...
