:( Looks like the Lightning has been dethroned as being the fastest production truck in the world. Found the bad news at a dodge forum. http://dtw.truckmoxie.com/forums Select General Discussions and scroll down to srt-10 new world record. Click the link. If you don't want to read what the dodge boys have to say then goto www.nascar.com/2004/news/headlines/cup/02/04/bgaughan_michigan/index/html (http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/headlines/cup/02/04/bgaughan_michigan/index/html)

The dodge ran 154.587mph

20k more for a truck that only ran 7mph faster then the Lightning
We out to send them a copy of the haloclub video.

The Lightning motor is not an exotic engine at all as the Viper is. It is the same 5.4 that sits in the engine bay of other F150's and Expeditions except with an added Supercharger. Nobody ever built a truck to compete with the GenII Lightnings and now that the GenII is being phased out, the dodge boys finally decide to come out to play. For now there are plenty of GenII's out there that can quiet the thunder of the dodge, but can't wait to see a heads up with the new Lightning. I know its still a 5.4 but since the dodge is out, it gives Ford a little time to see what the dodge can do and add some final tweaking and tricks to the L to kepp it in the #1 spot for performance.
