I was talking with someone at the picture today about this and thought that I would share the info here.

I went to Harry's Hot Rods to buy a set of 2" lowering shackles. He gave me the Chevy ones instead and said that they are longer and will actually lower it 2" as compared to the 1" from the ones for Ford. We installed the Ford ones on my father-in-law's truck already. Several people told me that the Chevy and Ford ones are the same, but it is not true. I have attached pictures of the stock one, the Ford one, and the Chevy one. The nice thing is that it still only costs $35 :tu:

Here are the pics from the shackles:

This is at the stock height (BTW, that is not me in the truck):

And this is after the CHEVY shackles:

This is a picture of all 3 shackles. From left to right we have the CHEVY, then the FORD, then the STOCK shackle. Both are the same brand and as you can see they are NOT the same length. The Chevy is a little more than an inch longer.

Here is a picture of the box with the part number on it for the Chevy shackles:

The Ford one in the middle looks wider...maybe a tad beefier??? Maybe it is just the angle from the pic.

Could there be issues with this, if it's true? Maybe the weight would cause the Chevy one to crack or bend? These are just speculations by the way...not known facts.

i think its the angle of the pic that makes it look thicker

I thought maybe the same thing. Hard to tell though. I am thinking that if ya wanted more drop than the 2" Ford shckle gives...you could just go with the 3" Ford shackle. Unless maybe the parts store was out and ya didn't want to wait????

Rocks:confused:

It is just the angle of the picture. The are exactly the same except that the Chevy one is longer.

I have never heard of a 3" shackle and the 4" one that I found was $109. Since this one was only $35 I wasn't complaining. :D

I didn't realize there was not a 3". But then again, I never tried to find one.

35 bucks????? Yeah, that is a deal.

Thanks for clearing up the optical illusion thing for us.
