Torque Convertor help needed

Terry,

I was finally able to check out this whining noise. Took it to a local shop, jacked it up and put it in drive. The noise is coming from the convertor, so I'm SOL. I really don't have the $400 - $1000 to drop on a convertor, but I'll find it somehow. The thing I really don't understand is that the truck drives fine when your easy on it, but when you try launching it, it will not shift gears.

Sometimes I hate vehicles.

What do you charge for install on this?

I would need to diagnose the problem. The converter shouldn't affect shifting just whether it goes or not. It may have a broken sprag and be shifting from 1st to 3rd which can fee lnormal under light throttle but just revs out in first when you get on it there is no 2nd gear.
