Anyone have a recommendation on a DVD/CD player for my L? and if so, does anyone have a friend at a custom shop or something to purchase and install it at?

I think it is Kenwood and Alpine that make the all-in-one units that have your CD/DVD player and radio in one in-dash unit. I would recommend that you go with a single unit otherwise you'll be installing all kinds of things under the seat and in the glovebox. I was considering the Alpine unit, but I don't have $2500 to blow on a head unit:eek2:. I've got to buy more stuff from L8 APEX to help support his crack habit!! These things should be coming down soon though. My advice, go all in one.

I priced out a Pioneer that was 2k including warranty. Do they make quality products in this line of merchandise? I know their radios are great, just not sure about this...

I'm not sure how good these things are. I would buy an extended warranty on these things if I could.

I run Kenwood Excelon in my G-ride. Pioneer is for the average:D Here are some pics of my install.

First you remove the interior.

Then lay some dynamat for sound/resonance absorbtion then the pre-wire is run and secured.

Finishing up you have a simple yet effective sound system upgrade:tu:

Pioneer is for the price-conscious buyer too. My headunit with MP3 playback, Pioneer XM headunit, Terk antenna, and installed, was cheaper than the only Alpine HU that was XM ready(still need a tuner and an antenna) and played MP3s - by about $250. Leaves more money for other things :)

To my knowledge, the Kenwood KVT911DVD (KVT910DVD was previous unit...didn't have Sirius...otherwise the same) unit is the only all-inclusive display head unit...this includes DVD, Receiver, and monitor (as well as Sirius-ready receiver)...Almost all of the others (not familiar with the new Clarion) require either a seperate AM/FM receiver (Panasonic) or DVD Player (Alpine, Pioneer)

The one drawback in my opion to the Kenwood is that the monitor is only motorized for open/close. Screen angle is manual. (course that just shows how lazy I am when it comes to these things :-D)...touch screen rules though...I'll have to check out the Clarion

The new Clarion VRX925DVD includes. AM/FM/DVD/CD/MP3 PLAYER/CHANGER CONTROLLER, FULLY MOTORIZED 7" WIDE SCREEN TOUCH PANEL LCD MONITOR. AND ITS SIRIUS READY. just need to get the receiver DSH920S thats about $250, and a tv tuner VMA6491 thats about $179, and a amplified diversity antenna ZCP100 thas about $109, if you want to watch local chanels or you can buy your self a VCR that has a tuner, yes the ones that have the antenna plug at the back just make sure it has RCA plugs.
