Anyone know if Ennis (or any track for that matter) is particular about the safety rating for driver's helmets? There is a significant difference in the cost of a regular helmet and a "race" helmet....A "friend" of mine wants to know.

As long as it is Snell approved you are fine.
A "race" helmet is obviously better, but you'll pay an arm and a left nut for one. I just went out and bought a Snell approved motorcycle helmet for $90 and it works just as good.

excellent...I am borrowing the current one that I am using, and I need to give it back. I would just hate to buy a M rated helmet and get kicked out because of an overzealous tech at the track...

To be honest, you could probably wear a football helmet and they wouldn't care. As long as you have a helmet on!

That's what I did too. I have not been given any grief over it yet. I paid about 120 bucks...but that was because I have to wear a extra large for my big arse head.:D

I spare no expense when protecting the noggin- if you ever plan to do "on track" events most require SA2000 or better rating.

Well here are some websites for helmets....

I think I will be getting a new auto helmet, instead of a motorcycle helmet (M Rated). The worst thing that could happen is that I spend too much on a helmet that is designed to save my life. Plus I can get the value out of it over the next couple of years, or sell it if I stop racing (yeah right!)...

I don't think they even care if you wear it. As long as the lady at the end of the track sees that you have it in the seat next to you, you're fine.

I already went ahead and bought a new helmet. The money spent today will give me a helmet that will last for ten years tops....So I figure it was not a bad investment. Plus if I ever stop racing, I'll just sell it on Ebay or to one of you.:D
