This Sunday is the May round of the SCCA Texas Region Solo2 autocross. This month it is at the TMS bus lot. For further info, check http://autocross.com/texasregion/ (http://autocross.com/texasregion/) .

By the way, there is a shortage of SVTs at the autocross this year, but plenty of Camaros and TAs. They are easy to beat though as demonstrated last month when the lone Cobra (a 97 coupe) took first place in front of a gaggle of GM f-bodys! So come on out and fly the Ford flag this Sunday!

I'm gonna go, first time running an event... should be a blast! Anyone else?? :nana2

Bump for second call and more info... We will be meeting at Custer and the Bush in Plano, in the Tom Thumb parking lot at Renner and Custer (about a long block south of the Bush on Custer) at 6am, looking to head for the track at 6:30am. If there are any questions, call me at xxx (edited for safety)

Crap, wish I had known about this. I would love to run my truck in some autocross. Want to get a good feel for how she handles at low speeds before getting her out on a bigger road course.

I will be there the next time though.

Well, you missed one he11uva time.... :burnout: I was hangin' it out, and did rather well, considering I'm a n00b at it (first time doing A-X with my own car, and definite first time with SCCA).

It was a very long day, but it was alllll worth it. When the pics come available, I'll post them. Also, there is an event next month, and it will be in the infield road course at TMS, so I'll track down the info now and get it posted so everyone has ample warning. :tu:

Well, today was one of the best days of my life! RIght up there with the run to MSR!

IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! Everything was well-organized, the entire SCCA crew were friendly, helpful, and patient with the n00bs(me). The gang that showed up--Orlando, Coleman, Micheal, Mason, and myself--ran well, had fun, and helped each other out at need.

Also, that entire crowd was amazingly honest: I had left my watch on my stuff, during my work time during heat 4, and it was still there when I got back. I'm sorry, but at ANY OTHER place, it would've been GONE for GOOD. http://www.dfwsvtoa.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif

This day was pure greatness, and I cannot WAIT for the next one!

Pics will be forthcoming. Iv'e got some video from inside Orlando's car, but my "ghetto-mount" camcorder shot nothing but pics of the sky http://www.dfwsvtoa.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif, so that was a waste. But I got a batch of stills, and Micheal shot some vids towards the end of the day, so let's get those posted soon. http://www.dfwsvtoa.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Orlando tossed his Cobra around like it was on casters; Coleman slung the Focus about, even getting a rear wheel to lift; Micheal hauled butt as usual, posting good times; Mason hauled butt even better; and I hung my Lightning out like I never have, even beating Orlando's times on the track! The surface was slicker'n'snot, but that just made it more fun.

Thanks everyone for helping make this possible... I had a blast! And I am sure everyone else did as well. http://www.dfwsvtoa.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I was curious what class they put you in? What other types of cars were you grouped with?

My L is totally stock, not even a cold air filter yet. Got one but want to get my truck dyno'd for a baseline b4 I add anything.

Keep an eye open for the next dyno day.. check out www.dfwsvtoa.com (http://www.dfwsvtoa.com), we post up that stuff, as well as www.svttexas.com (http://www.svttexas.com), and somewhere there will be a dyno day. Heck, if nothing comes up soon enough, post up that you're organizing something, and someone will hook up for it. ;) Just don't get impatient and pull that trigger on that CAI. What kind of CAI is it, anyhow?:tu:

It's an Airraid. Took my truck in to have the oil changed and a popping in the front end checked out and the guy at the parts counter actually came looking for me and had just sold his L and had the Airraid for 100 bucks. I had been checking them out and figured that was cheap enough.

The popping (which I had complained about since the day I picked the truck up :bs ) ended up being shot bearings in the front control arm. They replaced it under warranty and now its fine.

Dyno days??? Explain. I thought I could just take it over to Speedworks and let them dyno it. I was under the impression they gave it three runs for about $40. Right or wrong?

RIght, $40 for 3 pulls and A/F ratio. Nice deal. Some are cheaper, but they have a nice setup. "Dyno days" are a group thing, where everyone gets to gether and goes as a group--fun for all. Where do you live?

Downtown Dallas on Oak Lawn a few blocks off I-35.

Would definitely be up for a group run.

Any one else game in the next week or two?

Otherwise I go alone, I can't wait to start modding my truck and let Terry run his magic wand over my L and my checkbook!

I've got something for you to read first, but what you may want to do is start a fresh therad for a dyno run, and see what respnse you get. ;) PM me later, we'll talk about your plans.
