This might sound silly, but would I notice if my truck was runnin on 7 cyl's? I figure that I wouldn't. It's just every now and then, in 1st gear, I hear what sounds like a miss or gas build up in the exhaust. The bottom end noise has started all this (in my head). Yes, I have rod clatter when the motor is cold and especially on the 1-2 shift. Just plain out sux for a stock pullied Ford with 16k miles.:flaming:
Mods are flip chip/filter/exhaust/ and mass air only...any thoughts???

L's run like crap with 7 cyliders and throw a P0300 misfire code.

I think if your truck was running on 7 cylinders, you would know it. It would really be noticeable at idle. Seems I had a bad coilpack one time that caused a similar sounding problem. It wasn't completely out all the time, but would malfunction on occasion. Could be a lot of things though. Maybe I can stop by this weekend and we can take it for a spin?

Chris,
My bone-stock '02 L ran on 6 cylinders for about an hour recently ( #1 and #2 coil packs went out - AT THE SAME TIME). Go figure!
Damn thing felt like it was going to scatter at any minute.
They replaced them and it ran like brand-new.
Hope your fix was/is as easy.

Whats the easiest route for troubleshooting? Ohm Meter/Voltage?

See if Doug can throw his Scan-Tool on your L and see what codes your generating (if any).
You might have to buy him lunch, though.

You are hearing things I think!! I put the first 11,000 miles on that truck and it never had any bottom end noise. If it were hitting on 7 cylinders, you would definitely feel the miss and I think it would definitely throw some codes.
If you want one with 36000 miles on it, the other one is running just fine --- at least the last time I drove it -- about four weeks ago:beer:
