I drive a stock 04 L as an everyday ride. I would like to enhance its performance a little witout going broke. What modifications would you recommend and how would they effect performance.

Basic chip, filter, pulley. It's a night and day difference froma stock L.

Contact Terry at PRD in the supporting vendors section. He can definitely hook you up.

What kind of HP gain are we talkin about with a basic chip, filter, and pulley?

Depends on which pulley(2# ,4# , 6# etc ) you decide to go with and how agressive your tune is

Shoot Terry a PM, email or call him and he will tell you all you want to know and more

What he said. Expect a chip filter and 4# pulley to net you SOLID seat of the pants difference. You should be in range of 380-400 hp and high 12.XX sec ET eith slicks and GOOD traction...

The heat exchanger and electric fan Terry has on his website sound like they might benefit performance and fuel economy for everyday driving.

What comes first the heat exchanger or the pulley? Does anyone have both?

If I had it to do all over again, I would have just bought a KB like Francis. :)

You stil need a chip and flter and the KB comes with diff pulleys -- So you are still at square one

I have both and they have done absolutely nothing for gas mileage. The only gains I found were slight in the response of the throttle. And they both work fantastic at the track when you need a quick cool down for the next round.

My 04 was stock a few months back. I currently have most bolt-ons available. Chip, filter, and pulley will give you the most gain with the least cost.

There is alot of stuff out there, but no other bolt-ons will give you what those 3 will. These are typically the first mods you go for.

You also get much more with a programmer than you do with a chip..

Performance:
$125 filter & kit
$420 Programmer
$200 pulley

Accessories needed with Performance stuff:
$30 belt
$20-70 cooler plugs
$30 PCV oil separator :tu:

Misc:
$250 FTVB - also known as a shift kit. No ET gain, but definitely very fun to drive with :burnout:
$45 2 inch drop shackles, cause your rear end is too high in the air :nono:

There' some interesting reading over at NLOC regarding intake temps on open element filters vs sealed boxes like an airaid system.

Research before you buy-IMO

Yah, that's why I'm not pulling the trigger on a CAI just yet. The stock box, I've read, is good up to about 500hp before it starts to affect flow, as well as the TB, so spending the money elsewhere is a good idea.

IMHO, drop a K&N panel in, then work on reliability mods (intercooler, tranny) before you start doing power mods (chip/pulley, cat-back, etc).

Just my pair of pennies.

If I were to mod all over again with what I know now, I would throw a 100 shot wet nitrous system on there and be done with it.....leave everything else bone stock.......maybe a drop in K&N.

Pull out the next to the bottom leaf spring in the rear, slap on some Lakewood traction bars, bolt on some slicks, pull the front sway bar off, spare tire, reciever hitch, tailgate, maybe pass. seat, and spray 100 shot off the line and run some real high 11's and be done with it.

If it is on a '99-'00 put a 125 shot on it.

Wish I would have went that route the first time around.:(
