Depending on the size, alot of them go in ocean going ships, trains, heavy machinery and the like.
I thought I read (along time ago) that in refineries and pipelines, they use them to push/pull whatever in the pipelines.
I worked at a datacenter where the ENTIRE UPS battery system was recharged with 6 of those big things at night.
When they all fire-up, it's LOUD!

Woah.. V12, quad-turbo... those things are amazing...
I've seen those in workover rigs, running the crane system...

The Bradley fighting vehicle has a turbo diesel like that one. M1's have a jet turbine engine..........Ronald you're up.

We had a asian guy from a diesel shop come in to help us figure out a problem with a customers truck. He was showing me pics on him working those huge things.

You gotta appreciate a crankcase with steps that you can walk around in... gives throwing a rod or spinning a bearing a whole new meaning..
