Its not really that much faster... if at all. Besides, everybody mods them, so stock is going to be the slowest. What is more important is the differences with the models. As with anything, Ford learns a thing or two as the years go on. After all, the best testers of a product is the people buying it.

Scroll down the the bottom of that page. It has the differences between the years. I would look 2003-up because they have the new heads.

The 99 - 00 are definately viewed as slower stock for stock - 360 hp vs 380
But are also viewed as having stronger bottom ends for supporting added boost
There is a ton of info in this forum and in the FAQ on My SVTLIGHTNINGS.COM site in my signature below

They have a redesigned intake which is mainly where the 20hp comes from. They also have the 3:73 gears, clear lamps, LED brake light. I just happen to have a beautiful 2001 Silver stock except for window tint, bedcover, liner. 33K miles only asking 21K:tu:

It all depends upon your area, your age, and your driving record. Some will class it as a F150 others have specific listing for Lightnings.
If you already have a few dings on your driving record (tickets or wrecks) it will cost you.:eek2:
