Yes, that's right: SCCA Solo2 Autocross will be held on the roadcourse IN Texas Motor Speedway, this coming Sunday, June 20th.

Registration is on the web only, here:http://autocross.com/texasregion/, midway down the page. Registration will be open 'til June 18th, 6pm. Cost is $25, minimum 4 runs. Entries are limited to 225 entrants. So get in there quick. :d

Also, spectators are very allowed, so if you don't want to run, come on out anyway, and cheer us SVT/Ford owners on! :tu:

I'd like to get a headcount of those interested in running/spectating, because I'm going to try to set up a central meeting location, and get to the track early, with time to walk the course before the meetings. I plan on gettting there with time to stake out spaces near the track, for everyone that will be there, and put up a tent as well. If anyone wishes to bring a tent/awning, please speak up.

I'd like to get some presence for the event from SVT and Lightning owners, so y'all come on out!! :D

The TMS road course event uses the road that is inside the speedway oval. The course is a smooth asphalt surface. Cones will be placed on the road and ramp area to make a challenging course to drive. I don't know, this sounds like they are setting up a regular coned course on the parking lot, not the Le Mans course. I've driven the Le Mans course in the L and it was fun.

My understanding is that they are using the LeMans course (this was from the director's mouth at last month's A-X), and putting cones on it to tighten it up and make it more technical.

Excellent. Seeing as you're coming from Denton, look for us at the track. Some of us are meeting at the Whataburger at Coit and 190 between 6 ans 6:30 am, to caravan out, but I doubt you'll want to drive all the way in for that. We will do our best to stake out a set of spaces as close to the track as possible, with room for a tent and enough space to work over our cars. So far, we have 6 folks coming. Look for a black '94 Cobra and a black '01 Lightning with a hockey puck stuck to the back window.
If you have any questions, call me at 972-668-8428(h) or 214-704-9291 (c).

See ya tomorrow!

great seeing you tex . had a blast . that coarse was a little to technicle on some spots . at a low speed it was hard to get the lightning through the tight cones ;) . but i did love the four wheel drifts at 60 :D . surprised more lightnings didn't show up .

Yeh, me too... Mason was a great help behind the wheel, and gave me alot of tips on making it better.

A little birdie told me that you didn't have much trouble with those stinkin' cones 'cuz you just AVOIDED them... :p :d jsut kiddin' ya... ;)

I know it's kinda silly to run a L on an A-X course, but it's actually good to konw what it's going to do in certain situations--the time I spun, when I came out of the first long sweeper, I lit the tires up, then tried to get too aggressive in the back slalom, and that loaded up the suspension/frame to the point where when I lost the tail, I couldn't collect it--EXACTLY the same way I lost it on Turn 4 at MSR, with the same result: dead stopped facing the wrong way, and both me and Mason grinnin' like idiots from the spin! The only thing he had to say was that he felt like he was climbing out the window on the turns, because of the body lean. :o

All in all, it was an absolute blast. I really look forward to attending the drving school the July 24 weekend. :D Are you gonna go?
