I was in traffic last week during the standoff at WalMart. I was there as CareFlight landed.

This cop must be a crack shot with that pistol at 50+ yds away

CareFlight is in the center of the pic.

I read the headlines on this story. Crazy!

The wildest police "standoff" I've seen upclose was one Wed. afternoon while in college at OU.

I happened to look out my 2nd story living room window and I see a 6-8 member SWAT team in a tactical-stack hiding against the other apt. bldg. with CAR-15s at the ready!

We watch them for a moment and then BAM!... they tear across the court-yard as we see the other SWAT team meet them at the perps door as they bludgeon it down and all pour inside.

No shots fired. It's funny - there were a few 250-300 lb. Harley biker types with balaclavas on their heads speaking with the officers and exchanging notes.

Turns out, it was a meth. lab.

I moved soon thereafter.

My wife was one of the customers sequestered inside the Wal-Mart, during the stand-off. I feel that I owe a sincere debt of gratitude to those officers, because from what I understand, that F------ IDIOT may have had plans to go into the store and open fire, had they not approached the van when they did.

Luckily she was parked on the West side of the lot, and was in the first group they allowed to leave out the back door. Just another reminder that we live in a strange and scary world. You just never know. We get so accustomed to hearing about the crazy stuff that goes on day in, and day out. This one hit a little too close to home.(literally and figuratively)

My thoughts and prayers are with the fallen officer and his family.:bows
