My weird luck strikes again! My truck has been sitting in the garage all week until friday because of the rain. I drove to work for the first time in over a week, and when I got home from work yesterday I locked my doors with alarm remote and then realized I forgot something and went to unlock them and the wouldn't unlock. They were trying but too weak to move the locks. It actually looks like both lock actuator motors are about burnt out, but that's a one in a million chance that they both burn out at the same exact time....Well you would think so anyway...

After pulling up the upper dash panel and checking the wiring on the door lock relays I determined that the lock motors are getting power, so then I go to the lock actuators themselves expecting to see too low of voltage, because I was expecting a bad connection somewhere between the relay and the actuator. To my suprise I had full voltage at the actuator. So then I pulled off the actuator and connected direct battery voltage and it moved pretty strong but only for the first time and after that it would only try to move either trying to lock or unlock.

This means that, that one in a million chance happened to me. Now I have to replace both actuators. I checked fordpartsonline.com and they want $38.80 each (not too bad I guess)...I called the dealer and they sell them for $63.19 each. Fordpartsonline says they retail for $48.50, that means that the dealer marks them up $15 over the retail value...What a bunch of pricks!!!

Does anybody know what the OEM part numbers is so I can double check the part numbers?

Jason

It is REALLY unlikely that both went out at the same time, not impossible but VERY unlikely ... Look for other common issue.. - Wiring - Battery charge level - fuse - Relay ......... Something else....

I think it's heat related. I think they have been worn out for a little while but because I really haven't cycled them lock to Unlock back to back until now I haven't noticed the wear until yesterday. I've already ruled out wiring problems because I voltage all the way to the actuator and the voltage is good even under load. With the actuator removed and applying direct battery voltage it exhibits the same problem of being weak after the first toggle.
