Yellow top or red? Is there a bling bling cover or tie down for it?
Post up pics if you have any.

I went yellow top and have been very happy with it. As far as bling bling cover....I shoved a shop rag behind it to push it tight against the stock hold down.....Terry loved it. I could tell because every time he sees it, he makes comments about how much I spend on my truck:rolleyes: .
You can also buy an adaptor at Auto Zone for a couple bucks........I am just too lazy arse to go get it.

I have a yellow top in the Lightning and a red top in my Honda. The way to visualize the difference between the red top and the yellow top is that when it's at full charge the red top will have a little higher cranking amps, but if the batteries are run down to, just say 50%, the yellow will have higher. So for example, if you end up running your battery down low, the yellow top will stand a better chance of cranking your truck with the energy it has left more so than the red top. If you were to look at a graph of Cranking amps per %charge the yellow top would be more linear and the red top would have a greater peak at 100% and and drop a lot quicker with % charge. Also the yellow being a deep cycle is a little more durable and will withstand several a total discharges where a red top will only take a few of them, if any.
As far as mounting, I manufactured a spacer piece for mine with two grooves. One to match the ridge on the battery tray in the truck and another to match the battery, and then I just used the stock mount. I works great, no shifting and no high stress points gripping the battery. I have to admit, right now it's made of wood, but I have the intention to replace it with the same thing made out of aluminum.

There is a Marine company that make a real nice Optima holder. Adam9694 had one. I like red or blue.

Got the battery, now I'm thinking about mounting it somewhere in the bed and putting a power cooler in it's place.

There is a way to keep the battery under the hood and still put a power cooler beside it. It involves replacing the stock wiper resevoir with one from a focus....I believe.

Battery holders made from red shop rags and pieces of wood. Sounds like they came from the same high quality company that built Doug's new overhead waterski rack for his boat.:rll: :rll:

I knew I shouldn't have said anything about making it out of wood. Now I'm going to have to go get this thing made out of a soild piece of aluminum or I'll never hear the end of this.
