Do it before it's too late...

Long story short, Elaine's Grand-Dad passed away today at 2:45pm from cancer that spread very fast. It spread from his lungs, to his hips and then his brain.:(

I remember 4-6 months ago, he had hair as dark as mine and running around with the rest of us.

We got the word Bill Day (grand-dad) had cancer around that time and he went in for chemo/radiation. All his hair went white, etc. fast.

Next month, he lost ALL his hair and Elaine and I had to help him from his recliner to his couch.

It's kinda' weird helping an elderly gentleman walk from their hospital bed to the bath room to piss in a cup and maintain casual conversation/composure the whole time.

Bottom line, life is fragile and I only post this to remind everyone to call parents/family/loved ones and tell them how you feel. :o

yep, just happened to me. hadn't seen my dad in years, and got tired of trying to keep up with him We had a great time when we'd see each other. He got diagnosed with cancer. i didn't make the trip to Missouri, right away. he died from it 2 - 3 weeks after diagnosed. Just happen this month. So if you have the chance do as Ronald said. Sorry if this seemed like a :ron: but it definitely hit home

I took your advice and called my folks whom I haven't talked to in a while. It definitely does make you think, when you hear of someone else's misfortune.

Give Elaine my condolences.

Mike,

Thank you and Tex, too.

We are indeed on this Earth only so long...

Kind of off-topic, this evening, Elaine and I went to JoAnn Fabric and I was almost plowed hard by a careless driver who hit Laney's pass-side car door and pulled it out of my hand as I exited.

If I had been earlier out the door and he had cut wider...

It beat the hell out of his new Camry's front-end, but it barely scratched Laney's car. Frisco 5-0 showed and all was good.

We were in Laney's '95 T-Bird, btw. :tu:

Pardon the :ron:, please.

I too agree.....do something kind before it's too late. I needed someone to help me out after a surgerical procedure and believe me that's when you find out who your real friends are. He didn't ask for anything in return, stayed up late to make sure I took my medicine, went grocery shopping to make sure I had food in the house and even fixed me some breakfast the following morning. Friends like that don't come along everyday.
