Any suggestions on where to go for good service in the fort worth area. I am not going to name which dealer im using but lets just say im not at all happy. Today will be the third week in a row that I have had to take the L back in for something that was not fixed right the first time. All I ever get is either cannot reproduce the problem or poor workmanship. Please help.

That is pretty much the dealer creed towards warranty claims. Our good buddy Lawrenece Red2002 works up at Ford Country in Lewisville maybe he can help. But I think they are only a Focus, Cobra SVT dealer right now.

I have had my L there a couple of times for warranty issues and have had great service and no "run around" in regards to the warranty.

Wow... another dealer other than that one in Frisco that's ticking people off...

Good luck finding a good one... I've not had problems with that Frisco dealer, but that's just me, I guess.http://www.nloc.net/forum/images/smilies/confused2.gif I've also heard that Bill Utter handles SVT, but I could be wrong.

John Eagle Lincoln Mercury sponsors the Lone Star Cougar club, the SVT Club of North Texas, and the North Texas Marauders among others. They have SVT Techs on staff and their service department is awesome.

Go see Jared Martin in service, tell him you're a SVT Club Member and that Logan sent you and you'll get taken care of.

Since you live in Benbrook I believe the closest SVT dealer is Nichols. If that's the case that's unusual because I got my L there along with my Mustang and a Tauras and no problem they didn't take care of. They did an oil change on the L and pulled the front airdam loose backing it off the ramps and they replaced it with a new one (twice) now Larry the service manager takes special interest in getting my service done without any problem. So if its Nichols ask to speak to service manager, Larry. Hillard is not SVT dealer I don't think. I know they deal in Rousch vehicles.

My personal experience is that JELM knows little about SVT vehicles, and they refuse to give you a loaner car, even though it's part of the SVT ownership experience  . They did a rotten job on the transmission on my Cobra, took way longer than they originally stated to get the work done, refused to cover my throwout bearing and flat out lied to me on some other things. I only go there for parts and wouldn't recommend them to anyone for service, but I wouldn't doubt Logan's recommendation.

Jimmy Foster at Bankston has been good to me, even though some have had bad experiences at Bankston. Unfortunately one of the rotten service writers from Bankston is now the service manager, which works against them, but like I said, Jimmy is a good guy.

Ford Country has improved greatly since they changed ownership (and their name). They've done real well with my Mach and my Explorer so far, but a buddy of mine has had problems with them. A couple of the techs there drive SVT vehicles, and they seem like good guys. Ford Yeager is the sales manager at FC now, and he's a Lightning guy. I'm currently on the lookout for a dealer that's mod-friendly, as I don't want my entire warranty wiped out if I decide to put a catted X-pipe on the car.

I always took my truck to Don Davis Ford in Arlington. They were always VERY professional and courteous, and always took exceptional care of my L. I NEVER had any issues getting a loaner from them, and always got my truck back with a fresh wash job on it.

The service writer I ALWAYS deal with (even with my new '04 FX4), is Scott Moore.

I had my '02 L in there numerous times with various minor issues, and even with all of the mods (Kenne Bell, Long Tubes, lowered, pullies, chip, 500+ RWHP, etc...etc...etc... ), I had on the truck, they never gave me a lick of grief. They also have some top notch SVT techs over there. I realize they may be a drive for you, but it may be worth it.:tu:

Goodluck,
Rob

That bit on JELM is surprising, considering it's Sonny running things down there (yeh, I can call him by his first name: my wife worked for him up at Bankston when he came in, and he took that dealership from the little one-horse dealer in a Morgan(!) portable building to waht it is now. THe real problems at Bankston aren't the people; they're caused by Autonation). I also know Yeager, and he's a real good guy as well, despite being a salesdude. At Bankston, I've dealt with Cody Mashburn and Chad Hutchinson, and cody's got the best service team downstairs. Chad does a good job as well, and handles COdy's guys when Cody's out.

Now, one dealer I'm aware of that's mod-freiendly is TExan FOrd in Arlington (home dealer for DFW-SVTOA). Give Robert Hall a call, and he'll point you in the right direction. ;)

I dont really like naming names but the dealer i am having trouble with is Texas Motors. It is 5 miles from my house but I am going to start trying Hillard or Nichols. I know Hillard is an SVT dealer because they had some brand new L's sitting out front the other day. I appreciate all your suggestions and eventually might try some of the other dealers. Thanks

Go ahead name names. Most of us on here has been for awhile and has posted problems we have experienced form dealer to dealer all over the Metroplex. I have dealt with Westway -Irving,Don Davis-Arlington,Nichols-Ft Worth for service and buying but I have always gone to others when I 'm looking for a car/truck just to see if they may cut a better deal.(Grand Prarie Ford,Doug Stanley,Texan,Hillard) also when I need parts. Since I live on the south end of Arlington & north Mansfield I'm shopping the Ford dealers within 30 miles of my house and we have a wide variety to choose from.I like Nichols and right now I give them 1st shot at every thing sells, service & parts but if another dealer beats their price...thats how it goes. good luck man and hey welcome to TALON.

Thanks for the info, Rob. I bought my Mach at Don Davis, but had someone who isn't a service writer tell me I couldn't mod the car. I'll definitely be giving Scott a call, and I'll probably drop your name. :)

No problem Scott.:tu: Like I said, they never gave me a lick of grief, in terms of voiding my warranty due to the mods, HOWEVER, if you have a problem with something on the car that you think may could be traced back to a particular mod, I would remove that mod before taking it in to make a warranty claim.

I don't want to mislead anyone. With the extensive mods I had on that truck, I would not have expected Ford to warranty any engine or other drivetrain issues that may have occurred(but never did).

All I'm saying is they never threatened to void my warranty due to the modifications, and they always took good care of the truck when I did have it in for several minor repairs here and there.

Later,
Rob

That's exactly my attitude. I'd like to mod the car, and I don't intend to take advantage of Ford, but I don't want them voiding my entire warranty because I put an x pipe or gears on the car.

There is a tech at Don Davis that owns a Gen 1 Lightning. His name is Sonny. If you go, talk to his service writer Dann and request that Sonny be the ONLY one that works on the truck. That is what we did and we had no problems.

Gagspa, hey glad I got to meet you (again) Sat. Also thanks for letting me and "A'Teal La" hang out with you and the other Bullitts & Mustangs for a few mins. I would have stayed longer but like I said work is necessary. I still got a year and a half of Lightning payments left. I'll keep eye on you guys website for other events.

gagspa,

Those are some pretty impressive numbers your Bullitt is throwing down. What all's done to her? I would assume some sort of blower. Sounds like a sweet ride. I really like the Bullitts and Mach 1's.:tu:

No doubt. I was wondering the same thing. What's the story with that thing?

Has anyone had any bad experiences or know anything about Payton-Wright Ford in Grapevine?
They used to service my Cobra but I did not have it long enough to form an opinion. (Lady w/ bad eyesight and a leadfoot T-boned me and ended it's life)

Ford Country in lewisville is where i bought my L.Told them it was stumbling, took it back 5 times. Finally they said they could reproduce the problem, after bad gas?after sitting a while?after just drive it After...........Finally after 2 weeks in the shop a ford engineer was called in and found an 02 sensor bad. They did fix the problem, but shotgunned parts, gave me a new P.C. that didn't run as good as the original. They put 150 miles on my truck test driven it and trying to reproduce the problem. The back bumper was mis-aligned from shipping. The front bumper was misaligned. My window was scrathed! When i did the first oil change @ 1500 miles after having the truck back for a week, i noticed the front sway bar mount bracket was ripped from the frame.I had to bend it back drill and tap the frame oversize and install a larger bolt.Either they hit a curb while driven it or the dumb **** who trucked it in from arkanas used the bar to strap it down.Had rain guards installed both windows, both coming off!The only thing they did right was break my truck in beatin on it!If you take your truck to them ask how many miles it will take to fix the problem, and wear saftey glasses for a good eye POKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :vomit:

Texan Ford-Arlington I20/Cooper- See Vince.

There have been more than few L's in there with the head issues from a blown plug and they've always did people right.

If you need someone in Dallas take it to Skyline Ford and ask for Jeff Baron, he is my serivce manager there and when I need something done that I can't do myself he hooks me up and they have an SVT certified mechanic on staff.:tu:

They were a bunch of dumb-arses the last time I was there... Took 3 days longer than promised and can't return a phone call to save their lives...
