Yellow is an expensive paint it has a lot of cadmuim in it. A color change is also expensive depending on how much you want trimmed in. There is the door jams, pulling the bed to get the back of the cab, inside the engine bay etc. There are some small part time shops/painters that may do it for $2-3K. The pro's like Ted Prohaska or House of Color would be closer to $5-6K. Yellow is about a thousand more than a regular color.

I concur with Terry. Run from a $2k paint job, especially since you'd be changing colors. That will be a crappy job overall.

If you really want a killer paint job, you should talk to Gary DeFratus over off of Belt Line, South of 183 in Irving. He ain't cheap, but he is good. His shop is a factory approved Viper Repair Center. A friend of mine backed his '94 R/T-10 into a guard rail and DeFratus repaired it. It looks and drives like new now. It has been about 5 years since the accident asnd there are absolutely no problems with any of the work.

If you really want to make a radical color change, like going to yellow, do yourself a huge favor and take your truck ONLY to a high end paint and body specialist.

It wil actually cost you less in the long run.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I need to find time to become more proficient w/Photoshop 7+ - these renditions aren't that great.

I've been too busy during the day "shuckin' and jivin' " with recruiters and the like.

I'll always love Sonic-Blue w/the '02 rims. :bows

We have restored a number of Shelby Mustangs, and we took the cars to bare metal. We figured it would run between $6K and $10K for a paint job depending on how straight the panels were.

For a "show quality" paint job, each panel would have to be block sanded twice, and it took 2-4 hours per panel to do the job.

then there is the color sanding after the clear coat is applied:tu:

I agree with Ivan. If you want a quality paint job with the sanding and prep it takes to make that paint look good then you are going to pay for it. My son wanted his truck painted and he took it to Maaco. The paint is not bad, but you can tell the sanding was kept to a minimum and there was lots of overspray. (no masking done) They did not primer the new front bumper or roll pan and we have had to take it back for rust coming through the paint. You get what you pay for.
