The first .jpg is my latest.:bows
It's almost the L equivalent in the attack helicopter department as far as "curb appeal" goes in my book.
They've been used all over Iraq/Afghanistan/Europe and tons of other 3rd world countries.
The US has "acquired" a number of them through "various means" through the years and they can be seen around Nellis, AFB in Nevada and bases in Louisana, I understand. They have been for quite a while.
These monsters weigh 18,078 lbs unloaded and 26,455 lbs fully-loaded (incl. 2 crew men and 8 troops w/fuel and armament) at a top-speed of 208 mph!
I've always admired the Israelis and Russians for their resourcefulness and spirit. The US took a different approach and went with the BlackHawk / Apache combo. with each having different roles on the team. Russia went with one platform to achieve attack/troop transport tasks.
Take a look at the AKs and Galils, you can throw sand/mud at them and they almost always operate - unlike the M-16. Same with the Hind versus the Apache. If you ever get the chance to go to an air-show, go.:tu:
Coolest experience yet was practicing my college Russian on a couple of SU-27 (F-14/F-15 equivalent) pilots/gunners as they were exiting their fighter. We chatted a bit and I traded a $1 for a Ruble with them. knana

If you follow your posts to their seemingly logical conclusion and given the fact that you're so busy, why are you posting so often on TALON, much less look at your desktop? :D
This puzzles me. Hmm.:tu:

Yup I like the Hind too but its a pig when it comes to agility. I like the Apache and the new Comanche the best. Blackhawks used to be considered one of the toughest helicopters to take down, that was before the BH down incident  Apparently they can take a beating except in the tail rotor :)

Hard for any chopper to fly without a tailrotor.

Hard for any chopper to fly without a tailrotor.I agree with that, being the baddest Tailrotor Technician in the country. You'd be suprised at what kind of a beating the blades can take. If you have ever seen how they look in slow motion, you will realize that they are like limp noodles when they fly. My German Blades are strong as hell, the french on the other hand, are just french.

The limp-noodle part doesn't surprise me, Jacob.
It makes my gut churn everytime to look outside that window and see that 747 wing flexing up and down at 35K ft.
Just curious, are those French/Dauphin blades?
