I just bought a new HDTV. 26" LCD, Sony.. Yes I would have loved a 42" plasma but no room on the wall if I was to keep the entertainment center.
So, it has a coax input, an input with the r/g/b w/audio, a satellite block looking kind of input, and the S video/video w/audio input.
I have cable with some HD channels and a HD DVR to run it, we also have a DVD player and am adding satellite for the NFL package. Question is, what is best to run into which input on the tv? I had the cable guy wanting me to use the r/g/b input but that made disconnect the DVD player.. I got the satellite coming in on Wed.. So do I need to buy some kind of switchbox to run all of these devices into the tv? or what? also, if you give advice, tell me where to get it, remember I live in Erie,PA. I also run my audio thru the tv and then out of it to the Bang and Olufsen stereo. Yes it is not surround sound but if you heard it, you would understand, its that good.
Please give advice.
Dana

Give me pics!!
Here's what I have on my major TV. Cable/VCR and satellite are both tied into a switch box (Radio Shack will have these; cable comes into the VCR and the VCR is routed to the switch box) and into the TV via the coax hookup. I'll have to pull the TV out and see how the DVD player is hooked in. I believe it is RGB, but I could be wrong.

Well I run a Bang and Olufsen stereo. Those Scandinavians do a pretty decent job on this front. Its not surround sound but you can look it up or go to their store in Turtle Creek. Cool stuff.

My issue was resolved today when the DirectTv guy hooked up the cable to the DVR unit and also dish, I just have to toggle over when I want to go to regular cable from the dish.. But I got the NFL Sunday Ticket so I can watch the 'Boys up here every week without fail. knana
So I think I am good to go..
Thanks for the help.

Screw that, go up there, make him take that paltry 26: back, get the 42", toss the entertainment center, get the reciever, and do it RIGHT! :d

I saw a system setup in a magazine recently, where they installed the flat-panel above the fireplace, and put a painting on hinges and lifts, so it could be covering the panel when not in use. Wife showed that to me, and had FINALLY agreeed that setup is the best (I've been pushing for something like that since we've moved in here). So.. soon as I get a JOB, we may be doing that. :D

Tim/Dana,
Not to "thread 'jack" here, but I might have to look you up sometime soon, Tim. My Sony receiver is going out (bought it new in '96) and am looking for more "capabilities" as in going to a HD setup either plasma/dlp or something.
Suggestions?
Ronald

Never purchase Plasma. DLP is the best IMHO;)
