On my '99 I only had the plugs changed when they did the I/C recall...and I didn't swap them out. Just went back with the stock Motorcraft ones. After all, I only had a chip and 2lb pulley on it.

2-3 years ago, everyone was suggesting NGK TR6 plugs. Now I read about Denso plugs.

If I were to upgrade to an Apten blower and 4lb pulley, what plugs would be best? How often would I have to change them? I assume the non-platinum plugs, if used on these motors, require a significant step up in the change interval.

thanks

I've got Denso IT-20s about 16K miles ago. Just got the Apten ported blower about 3K ago. No isses on the street or track, and I would assume the plug change interval would be the same as stated in the manual....every 100K or something?

I'm interested in what others have to say....

I have used Tr6's for a while now. Densos are nice but they are pricey. I would change them at 20-30K no matter what plug they are if I drove it hard.

I ran the Denso IT24s with my #6. I new run the NGK TR6 with my #4. I love the TR6s they are cheap and they are a tough plug. I have had mine in for about 30k and have not had any problems. I cant tell the difference between the Densos and the NGKs.

Cool, I've got some extra TR6's sitting here on my workbench.

I'm running the new TR6ixs, even better than the TR6.

The IX's have iridium tips ... probably $80 or so as opposed to the $16 non-iridium. Supposedly they just have a little better idle from what I've read.
