Just curious as to what traction bars were the best to buy. I had some lakewood (terry called fakewoods) that were...ok. What is everyone else running?

Seems that most everyone uses the rancho style bars. But as for me i plan on just getting some lakewood slapper T-bars since im not a hard core drag racer. They are way cheaper than rancho style and will do the trick for me

I had the Off-Road 4x4 Suspension Rancho Torque Bars that JDM, LFP & JLP offer (they really are not traction bars) on my previous 01, The stock exhaust hit the bar, aftermarket catback also hit the bar. Also if you are lowered, the front brackets hang down pretty far and can get in the way on driveways or speedbumps.

This time around with my '04 I'm going the Lakewood route as well, actually just ordered them online. Cheaper ($95.99 vs $350.00+) and they are just as functional without getting in the way of exhaust & the pavement. Gotta pickup some grade8 hardware upon arrival :)

If anything, both will help keep the axle from twisting and breaking a U-joint/driveshaft. The tires are where the traction is really at, weather it's a drag radial or slick.

the latest bars i have designed worked great today. i was in the 1.70 to the 1.74 range on all but one run . but they are not cheap to build and take a lttle time . in my opinion they are the best . i will try to post some pics and i can tell or show you how to build your own . if you have a few specialty tools . like they say nothing good comes easy . now to just put my engine back together.

i had the truck traks and they worked pretty well, but as i started to go a faster they just couldnt keep the ass end planted as well anymore. so i upgraded to a more solid traction system.

I have read a post over on nloc or f150online about them. I remeber that the guys liked them but the were a real tight fit and some of the bolts for around the axle was like basicly a nut hair away from the frame.
