Anyone running them? It seems like a good idea.

More fluid available and better cooling properties - I figure you can't lose there.

I'm kicking around Royal Purple for the transmission and diff./rear axle fluids. I understand it's the top-notch oil next to the Mobil 1 line.

One question, if/when I change the transmission oil/pan:

#1) Should I change the trans. filter too (I assume so) ; and

#2 I understand you shouldn't mix Ford/SVT OEM non-synthetic trans. oil with RP synthetic oil. So, how the hell am I supposed to get all the oil out of the torque-converter?

Thanks,

Ronald

Your truck will last forever the way it sits, change the ATF every year and the rear end goop every 4 years. The rear is already synthetic.

I second what Terry said. Unless you are putting in a valve body or something I wouldn't mess with it. If you need more convincing, I give you this link:

Read Factory_Tech's comments. That should scare ya off. :d

For the love of God....get a line mod valve and pan....chip it, put a pulley on it and start the modding all ready! Warranties are overrated anyway

Yeah, then read Skelton's comments. They pretty much negate each other.

Bottom line is this: any kind of mod is a risk. Minimize it by using your head and try not to go overboard. The need to modify the transmission is based on how much power is going thru it. IF you're overpowering it, you're gonna kill it. If you want to minimize the problem, follow Skelton's recommendations on his page (because they go from the "reliablity" aspect of modding, making it work better first).

But, if you're not going to chip/mod the engine yet, I wouldn't worry about the transmission at this point.

If you're worried about the warranty, then by all means DO NOT mod the vehicle. Otherwise, you will give yourself an ulcer worrying about it.
