I'm curious, I've seen a few Lightnings with the functional shaker hood scoop, and I was wondering how exactly they set that up, and if it was a kit you can get for them, or if they used scoops from a Mach I and adapted it....

Most buy the hood/shaker kit complete- look to spend a grand plus painting.

Here's a better pic. The Keystone is the only functional hood available.
Some have used the Mach1 scoop, but it's strictly for looks.

Does it help much with power, or or help more with looks?

I also researched the Shaker It is my favorite looking hood. Couple of things about it cramped my style. The first problem, and biggest to me, is the way the kit mounts over the supercharger/plenum. I like to change my upper pulleys alot to hit different dial times. I found that the shaker set up makes this tougher to do. You can still change the upper, but not in the 3 minutes I can do it now. The second issue has to do with the functionality. It is technically functional, but only if you can figure out how to make the air flow over the front of the hood different than it does now. The airflow does not ride along the hood itself. It moves at an angle from the very front and then flows across the top of your cab. In other words....the scoop is too low for true functionallity(if that's a word)...

I agree, it's mostly for the looks.
