My L is leaving home Friday and I need a Gen 1. I have looked on the NLOC boards and I'm not real excited about going out of state (not real far anyway) to buy a truck. If anyone hears of a clean G1 for sale let me know....

John,
You may get lucky finding one close by. Terry and I hand to travel out of state to find really clean trucks. They seem to attach themselves to Dennis wherever he goes.
I'll keep my eyes open for one.
Here's a few out of state:

Why ??
Needed some cash for my wifes business. I thought I had this worked out a couple of months ago and was going to keep the truck but not so.

I've got a 93 and I love it. There were issues with the original paint and transmission upgrades in 94 & 95, but the newer trucks don't command any higher price than the 93 if they have equal miles and are in no better to condition. Newer may be better and the 94/95 year models are more scarce, but nothing to be alarmed about.

Here is one: http://www.mustangspecialist.com/page.php?page=Other
Guy is a former Gen II owner. I bought my old truck from them. Real nice people. And everything was as described to me.

Why?I don't know all the diffs but I think some are:
1) Improved transmission
2) 3rd brake/cargo lamp
3) clearcoat/basecoat paint
4) Airbag
5) 134A Refrigerant?
6) lighter interior carpet?
7) Dimming rear view mirror, power mirrors, keyless entry were new options?

7) Dimming rear view mirror, power mirrors, keyless entry were new options?*My '93 has power mirrors.
*The airbag is questionable(a lot of folks don't like its bulkiness, and I'm not sure about the L's, but in the Stangs w/ airbags, the steering column had no tilt feature-which would suck in those tighter confines).
*I'll take the darker carpet('93s) over the lighter carpet('94-'95s) any day.
*'93s have the 3rd brake lamp, but not the cargo lamp, which is rarely, if ever used anyway.
*The lack of clearcoat is a definite issue. Check w/ the owner of the truck you're looking at to see if it has been repainted with C/C. Ours had to be repainted because the original paint pitted, due to a lack of clearcoat protection.
*'94-'95s had stronger trannys, but the '93s can be upgraded with all the good stuff.
Bottom line don't shy away from a nice, clean '93, just because it's a '93. If it's well taken care of, it'll serve you just as well as any '94-'95 of the like, and the resale value will hold just as well.

The seller is well known in the G1 L community- don't think you could go wrong on this if it floats your boat

Thanks Steve. He is posted on NLOC as well. Sounds like a good truck. I was trying to stay under 100k in miles.
