Bobby,

I love ya bro, BUT doing 147 fricking mph with 2 couches in the bed of your truck, and another human being in the cab is abso-fricking-lutely LUDICROUS.

Don't get me wrong, as I've done some really stupid sh!t in my day, but this is NOT cool. Do you have any idea whatsoever, how fast you could obliterate your life, the lives of your passengers, and no telling who else, if anything were to go wrong at that speed? There are far too many variables that are COMPLETELY beyond your control going that fast on a public roadway in a 5300lb TRUCK(w/ couches and passengers).

Man, I don't mean to get off on my soapbox, as I think you're a good kid, and a trip to hang out with, but I'm genuinely concerned that your antics behind the wheel may someday get you into some seriously deep trouble, with the law or WORSE.

Having fun with your truck(or any high performance vehicle) is one thing, but when you're taking others' lives into your own hands....you need to take a step back and think long and hard about it.

You are NOT BULLETPROOF my friend, and I don't want you to find that out the hard way. I'm not asking you, I'm BEGGING you.....CALM YOUR A$$ DOWN behind the wheel.......PLEASE!!!

Sincerely,
Rob

#1: Rob is right; be damned careful, there are more lives than your own at stake. :(

#2: Where the f**k were you able to hit top speed like that?? And what are your mods? Did you have anyhting left, or were you topped out?

#3: for you speed demons: wanna konw how fast you can go?? Go to http://www.nasatx.com/main.asp, look up The TExas Mile, and get in on it. 8000ft concrete runway, with enough room for a flying mile, to see how fast you really can go. Not expensive, not too far away. Do it TODAY! :d

Yep. I'm considering doing the Texas Mile next year in my Z06. Should be ~580rwhp by then. Not sure if the gearing will allow me to pull 6th, though (.50 OD).

If you're only doing 4300+rpm at 147mph, then I'd think there's more left in it. ;)

Yah, but you konw that a stock L is aero limited to 147, so if he's modded, he should be able to pass that.

aero-limited has some to do with conditions. Downhill with a wind behind you will put you above that theoretical limit. :) Heck, take the couches out of the back... that might help aerodynamics a bit.

I'm sure the truck is modded. Most of them on this board are, at least to some extent.

I would be interested in seeing some of these trucks tackle the Texas Mile. Last year I believe there were only 2 Lightnings. One was running in the high-140s.

Stan Martin has topped 167 in his Lightning well documented silver state classic run. I topped 197+ in my black C5 at night up 360 it was an experience. It could have pulled 200+ but I decided to back out of it. The car started to pitch and sway. It needed more wings and stuff:eek: . My L was tacking about 5300rpm at 162 when it blewknana .

My truck is alittle modded!! But I guess I need to try out the Texas mile!!! We had to let off because of some traffic ahead or I would have went some more to hit the 150 maye the 160 mark!!! Ok Ok we didn't have the couch back there we were on are way to get it!!! And no one else was on the highway around us for awhile!!! We did it this once to see if the chip would record it and it did 147 MPH is were I let off!!! We did it on the open stretch going towards Waco!!!:tu:

I just wanted to make sure you heard this Bobby. Since I started on this forum, I can't remember reading any advice as valuable as this.
