Excessive acceleration (NO LONGER OFFENSE 9/01/2003)
Exhibition of Acceleration (NO LONGER OFFENSE 9/01/2003)
Can anyone verify that ??

I think instead of a ticket, you just get hauled to jail. Look down at failure to offer info/render aid. I KNOW that is a felony offense, and yet it says "no" as far as a ticket goes.
I've heard the two you mention can get your car impounded and a trip for you to the slammer in Plano, so I'm only guessing that its more severe than a low-class misdemeanor offense now (therefore, no ticket issued).

You may be right because the DUI offenses are listed as no as well..

Yes...that is correct...Exhibition is no longer a class C, but is now a county level charge. Really, I think it was almost a legislative oversight. They took the racing charges and moved them up to a class B misdmeanor. Well in doing so, Exhibition of Acceleration (peeling out) falls under the racing title and was bumped up also.
It's really kind of a junk deal and most cops will agree. Some cities have local ordinances that regulate exhibition and officers can still write a ticket if they have a relevant local ordinance.
Everyone should be careful and remember this though. It could go either way...most cops don't want to jack with arresting somene just for spinning their tires, so you could be more likely to get off with a warning. But, that's a high risk gamble that if wrong, could net you a trip to jail. :(

My friend has a ranger 4 cyl..with balled tires and he was driving on wet roads in The Colony (Grrrr..I know Ronald. hehe). Well he took off from a light and of course spun the tires, and a cop got him for excessive display or something of that nature so he paid a pretty hefty ticket. Stupid if you ask me, but it is the law....(if you get caught) ;)

The legal-assistant I dealt with at Martin J. Rubin to get my speeding/u-turn tkt. fixed (which I just got out from underneath) told me they get TONS of people getting hit for nickel-and-dime stuff. She said Denton county and especially "The Colonic" :d are money-grubbers!
