I hope this doesn't affect craftman tools! I like shopping at sears for tools! I don't know if I could buy tools with "Kmart" stamped on them.

Whoa- that doesn't seem right but I guess a sign of the times.

Can't wait for the "blue light special" on torque wrenches or something.

Kmart buying sears is like trying to raise the titanic with the hindenburg. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/flthrow.gif

are there any K-marts in the DFW area anymore?
Laredo & Killeen are only 2 I've seen when I've been in those areas over past year.

Craftmart tools...,Kraftman tools..., BRILLIANT !!! :rll:
I spend big $$$ in Sears, trying to pay off the plastic now. But I have to be dragged into a K-Mart.(Except for the going out of biz sale)

Craftsman tools are made by Danaher, the same company that are now making Kobalt for Lowe's. I stopped buying Craftsman because I don't trust Sears, but I definitely don't trust K-mart. I wouldn't put it past them to go cheapo on the Craftsman tools and live off the reputation.

Th last two sets of sockets and wrenches I bought where Kobalt. So far they have held up real darned well. Actually, they seem to do better than the Craftman line.

On the topic of K-Mart buying out sears............K-mart will slowly inject a big dose of cheap-ass, into everything and anything branded by the Sears name. Profits are the name of the game.....Maximum profits, as quick as they can get them. If the K-Mart crew is in charge.............the K-Mart way of merchandising will win.

Wasn't Martha Sterwart linked with K-mart at one time?

while you are Kmart bashing go look at KMART stock

kmrt - look at a 2 year graph (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=KMRT&t=2y)- keeping in mind the bankrupcty trouble they have been having ,,,

I wish I worked for Kmart and had lots of options

In the paper this morning they laid out the likely plans

Currently Kmart sells thier own tools - craftsman will likley be sold in kmart which will end up saving the company money - as long at the warranty isnt changed who cares if they cheapen them up ?

The also talked about other brand traversals

ALSO - their are no kmarts in texas ...

That is the thinking they will be counting on......... . I for one care if they cheapen them up. When I am in the process of working with tools, the last thing I need is some cheap arse tool causing me to have to stop what I am doing and run to the local K-Sears for a replacement cheap arse tool, free or not.

The wonderful Craftsmen warranty is really not so special anymore. The same warranty can be had with most of the major tool manufacturers.

Yep....Kmart will be putting the K in the Krap, soon to be available at your local K-Sears.

Rocks;)
