View Full Version : Engine missing/misfiring on accel
Started this evening coming home from work. Anything more than 1/4 throttle and it starts stumbling. Seems like 2 or more cylinders stop firing or misfiring.
Terry, you changed my plugs and fuel filter, and added 4lb'r and chip 1st week of Oct.
I pulled the chip with batt disconnected and the problem is still there afterwards.
What do I check for next?
Thanks,
Ken

Check the EGR vacuum line going to the top of the EGR. Check fuel pressure it sounds like lack of fuel or mechanical problem. Come by the shop if you need to.
I'll check the EGR, but I don't have a fuel pressure guage or fittings.
On sleeping on it, I thought of another symptom I've noticed recently: dim headlights. So I thought maybe the alternator was going out, but when I started it this morning I got over 14 volts at the batt.
Have these alternators ever been known to start being flaky at all?
Will you be around Fri afternoon? I can bring it by after lunch if I'm still having problems.
