Guy's, I'm hurting pretty bad inside, right now and running on 2 hrs. sleep since Saturday morning. :( My close maternal grandmother had her last moments on this Earth just around 7pm this evening.

Complications from a severe stroke approx. 2 yrs. ago, which, among other things, led to paralysis and inability to swallow food or medicine.

In an out of hospitals and hospice care and going gradually downhill. Months ago, she would refer to me as Regan and Roger and ask how college was - I graduated in '98.

Elaine and I call Mom/Dad on the way up to OK. this Saturday a.m. in the L to have early Christmas with Mom/Dad and Regan/Jenna. They say they're taking Christmas dinner out of the oven and racing to Durant as there's bad news.

We divert course and race over there in the L - vital stats are all over the scale. We stay late and go back to Mom/Dad's - we all go to sleep at ~1am today.

Mom gets a call at 3:20am this morning and we're all out the door asap by 4:00am, L in the lead as L's lights/fogs throw way more light than Dad's '01 Lariat, as blood-pressure is like 80/40. We get there and it's hit-miss all day - it hit 49/33 once and body-temp was dropping.

Nothing will break your heart like holding your Grandmother's hand this morning and telling her that you love her and that everything's going to be alright, your looking her STRAIGHT in the eye and Grandmother's giving you the "thousand-yard stare".:o

These pics were taken from Golden Proctor's birthday party a few weeks ago. Guess who the cake bearer is? I almost had to pull over in the L a few times this afternoon on the way back to Frisco and let Elaine drive.:o

TALON, I guess the point of this whole post is to call/visit your loved ones whenever possible and tell them how you feel more often because you never know when their time (or yours) is going to arrive.

I've been a pall-bearer a few times but never on Christmas Eve/Day. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

God bless, you Grandmother. You're in a better place, now. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

I am really sorry for your loss. I just found out last week that my Dad has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. That is really sad news for me and my family, especially during the holidays. Its not as bad as the passing of your Grandmother, but I know where you are coming from. Sorry to Hijack your thread with my problems Ronald. You and Elaine hang in there.

Jeff.

Ronald,

Sorry to hear about your loss. I can relate as I have lost both sets of grandparents and my mom and dad. My maternal grandma was my 2nd mom. She lived right next door and I would eat meals at home then go over to Nana's and eat again :tu: . mmmmmmmmmmm home cookin! I sure miss them all especially at the holidays :(

Ronald,

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. It is definitely difficult to lose someone so close. I know you'll think of her often. That's a good thing. The memories will make you sad for awhile, but you'll quickly realize they are a blessing. It sounds like she was a great lady who meant a lot to you. Family is so important.

Take care.

Ronald, Elaine: my most profound condolences for you and your families.

I know it was a hard thing, but after all that suffering, she's much better off now, as harsh as that sounds. Celebrate her life, remember the good, forget the bad, and learn the lessons she taught. That is the best monument anyone can have.

Articles like the following lead me to believe that we are losing perhaps one of the greatest generations that this country has ever witnessed. My wife lost her grandmother (at the age of 94) last month. I lost my last grandparent several years ago. The strength and character that folks of this generation possessed is certainly lost on much of our current population. To those that believe as I do, I look forward to seeing them again in a place much different than today's environment.

Ronald,

We'll keep you and your family in our thoughts. I lost my grandmother last year, and am now down to one living grandparent now, so I know how you feel. You tend to lost sight of what's most important in life until it slaps you in the face and brings you back to reality..at least I know that's what happened to me. Hang in there and just think about all the good times you had.

[:ron:]...the grandmother of mine that passed away last year will be best remembered for her fondness of 4-letter words. Such a sweet lady, but my gawd she could curse! I actually saw sailors blushing ad running in fear when she was around because the words that came out of her mouth were pretty bad. There are many other things, but that's the one thing that all of my siblings and cousins remember most. [/:ron:]

Everyone,

Thank you very much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. We appreciate them very much. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif Mom and the aunt/uncles decided on a Wed. 2pm service.

After so much sleep-deprivation, I almost collapsed on the couch last-night. Elaine found one of the quilts Grandmother made for me years ago and covered me up. Thank you, Sweetie.

Jeff,

I'm sorry to hear about your father. My Great-GrandDad (deceased) had Parkinsons and so does my GrandDad. I was lucky as a young boy to remember visiting with my Great-GrandDad, Edgar Poe Brown. His older brothers fought in the Civil War in Tennessee.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/bows.gif

GrandDad gets frustrated that he can't hold steady to sign a check and goes outside to get Grandmother to sign for him.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif

Dennis,

You're 100% right! They don't make them like they used to. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif Just like these two "trouble-makers" in the attached pic whom I truly respect and admire. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/bows.gif Those two are the basis of the http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/ronald.gif. Those two can tell stories and "educate"!

BTW, we were leaving Grandmother Proctor's home and stopped at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Durant. I run into this Red '01 L.

I get to talking to Mike, the owner. He's got a functional ram-air hood w/Air-Raid. He's chipped and running a 8 lb. pulley and runs at Thunder Valley. I told him aboutTALON, as well. He says he's the only one in the region.

Before I forget about it, who has the '01/'02 Red L on Preston/Rolater in Frisco Saturday morning with the TALON decal on the slider window? I honked a few times as we passed.

Ronald
