Americans are not educated to drive fast or respectfully it wouldn't work. Europeans accutally have order, respect and courtesy on the roads.

Cool video. The smart European's are excellent drivers, the dumb ones are dead. If you haven't driven in Europe, go do it, it is fun.

http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/ronald.gif I had a ball driving my brother-in-law's Toyota MR2 at 200 KPH +. I had to stay in the right hand lane so the Porsches and MB'z could pass.

Yeah, I couldn't tell for sure, and I haven't driven a L in a few years. The speedo on the Mach goes to 150 and the Cobra goes to 160 and I never pegged either. 145 in the Cobra was enough.

we already have the autobahn, it's 35W south when you get out of the major towns!

That was cool. The problem we have in America with going fast, is that you can always count on an ass-hole to pull in front of you in the left lane. On my last trip from Florida in the Lightning, I was able to get up to 120-130 a couple times, but without fail, I would get pulled in front of. It seems like they are afraid you might get around them or something.
Going that fast, someone doing 70 pulling in front of you can be testy, to say the least...

Did you notice the closing speeds that were shown ? It didnt look like the closing speeds were more than 30 -40 mph max which means that even the semis were doing 100

Id say our Autobahns are 190 GB pkwy, or the old tollway. You see Ferarri's, Vipers, Porsche GT's etc...

Fixt. And this from the guy who's selling his Mach because he can't avoid getting pulled over all the time. :rll:

Especially since they smoothed out the rough parts that were causing the 'bahners to coss the medians into oncoming traffic.

<--- not trying to put it in the same class... those are exotics. Its faster than those anyway.
Seriously, Terry is right... 190 GB is great when traffic is clear. Of course, that's also when the Highway Patrol is hiding out there, too.
I grew up in Plano and remember when Plano Pkwy was built. There was _nothing_ out west b/w Preston and Midway. I didn't have a fast car at all, but I would drive "fast" on that road. It was great. No traffic at all.
I also agree with Terry and Nuhklz... no way the average US driver could handle it. Mom with the SUV? Uh, no. Not gonna work. Everyone here in the US thinks its their _right_ to drive when they turn 16. In Europe, its a privaledge. If we'd get some stringent testing in order to get a DL, the roads would be safer, there would be less traffic, less pollution... heck, we could do away with these silly greenie emissions laws. :d

My son just moved back to the states from Itally. The Autostrada is awesome!
He has a Ducatti 748s that he's done some major stuff to. How about 176mph on the Autostrada!!
It's up for sale now since there is no place here in the states to let it run the way it was intended to and I am pretty happy that he's getting rid of it.

4 years stationed in Nurnberg,Germany.'85-'89 before the wall came down. great driving a 3 series beemer wide open and all of a sudden you see flashing headlights in your rearview mirror. Then a blow by from something I only dreamed of owning. Nurnberg to anywhere was fun.

Cool video! It would've been more impressive to have been filmed during the daytime to get a better impression of the speeds, but still. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/eek2.gif
