Our pastor mentioned this story from the pulpit on Sunday. I can't remember what the reason for it was... except that someone was looking down on this guy. How you can _not_ know you shot a big nail into your mouth is beyond me. Incredible.

Having had a few close calls with pneumatic nailers building fences at my rent houses, getting the nail gun anywhere remotely close to one's head is a definite "no-no."

Fortunately this guy is ok.

Screws and a cordless drill for me- no hammers or nail guns.

Agreed. I once thought I needed a chainsaw. I bought one, started it up and watched it hop around the driveway. I promptly sold it.

a drywall screw holds pretty well anyways, nails (depending on type of course) tend to pull out a lot easier

I had to buy a pneumatic nailer after I decided to put up/rebuild the fences at my rent properties by myself. Some of these things are 500-600 pickets a pop, and doing that by hand in the heat is ridiculous. Using ring shank nails... they aren't coming out.

The fact is that there is always risk when using tools like this. But I have to imagine if you read the instructions carefully the manufacturer is probably pretty adament about keeping the nailer away from body parts... yet this guy was wiping his nose or something with it?

Just proves some of us rednecks are smarter than others. :)
