Raptor and SCT users

90% of modern laptops do not have built in serial ports any longer. All SCT devices require a serial to USB adapter to operate. Serial to USB adapters are a cranky damn device for whatever reason. SCT recomends the IO Gear brand v1.1 device. I bought mine from Fry's electronics for $30 bucks I believe.

Question is why is the SCT stuff still written for serial - THat is SOOO 1980's

Serial to USB connectors are like a spork from KFC - Never meant to work right.

The SCT chip device I have is USB only ... PURE USB baby ....

I am sure they have an intelligent answer. I thought it may be the realative slow data rate handling of the vehicle PCM. All vehicle data cables I have ever seen were to serial. Even my Ease diagnostics uses serial. Slow stable data I reckon.
