What is the longest road trip in the shortest amount of time you have driven your L?
I ran the '93 from Dallas to Atlanta (840 miles) in 10 hours back in '95. 112 MPH almost all the way across Mississippi!
Averaged 84 MPH for the trip!!!http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/nana.gif

Back in the late 80's early 90s I had a Thunderbird turbo coupe .. It had an Elapsed time timer on the dash - I drove from Dallas to Roch NY - Stopped to sleep in KY - 1570 miles - I averaged over 75 MPH including stops.
I started the timer when I left dallas and only stopped it when I stopped to sleep - Didnt stop it for gas stops or pee stops or meals. The suspension in the Tbird was electronic and would auto shift to FIRM at 83. I left the cruise on 83 a lot of the time but as my back and head could take it I would run it up. The speedo stopped at 85 so I would guess how fast i was going based on how long it took for the speedo to unwaind to 85 after I took my foot off the pedal ....

From 99-01 we drove our PR C5 coupe to Daytona for the Rolex 24hr endurance series. 1350 miles in 12.5 hours.
In 00 we went to Road Atlanta to watch the race there. 860 miles in 7.5 hours.
We set the cruise at 140mph most of the time occasionally dipping below 120. With short jaunts to 176. I pray I am smart enough not to attempt it again but it makes for good stories for the grandkids.
Then in 03 I had to run 120+ for three hours to catch the convoy to Topeka.

This subject isn't exactly the best thing to be bragging about. I've settled down since getting the Lightning, but I have made some pretty dumb ones in the past with other vehicles. I used to make the 160mile trip back home from college every couple of weekends when I lived in Mississippi in about 2 hours and one time in 1:45, this was supposed to take at least 2:45-3:00 if you drove the limit through all the towns. I did this in my Honda running 120 for 20 miles at a time.

True, not the best thing to brag about. I really hate to hear the stories of fun gone bad. Hopefully there will be none of those on this subject. And, yes, I have settled down quite a bit as well. I was just curious about other folk's long distance experiences (that ended well!!!).
Ever notice the Highway Patrol in Mississippi likes to hang out at the State lines?
BTW, I could have had a quicker time to ATL if that dang '93 L didn't have the speed govorner!http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/bash.gif

Longest road-trip we've made in the L would've been Cleveland to Dallas (1,216 miles) we weren't pushing the speed, though. We would've driven it up into Canada for the record, but we didn't have time.
Ohio/Illinois/Missouri/Oklahoma troopers are bad about congregating around state-lines, too. Elaine pulled a 100+ fly-by in the L, as I was driving the U-Haul + car-hauler somewhere in nowhere IL.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif 120 top-end is enough for me.
Fastest road-trip for me? Probably Norman/OKC to Alexandria, LA., Houston and back to Madill in 23.5 hours nonstop with all 4 of us taking shifts driving in my college-truck. This included us packing up all of Regan's stuff in "Lousy-Anna".
We rounded one turn near Holly Beach, LA. and there's this alligator laying in the road. See attached pic. Those things are crazy fast!http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/eek2.gif The dumb things I did in my youth. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
In '99, we did Dallas to Winslow, AZ. (958 miles) in one day on the way to Vegas - don't remember exactly how many hours, but we were hauling 80+ avg. in my cousin's Escort the whole time!
It was crazy to wake up and go to the Winslow, AZ. Denny's next-door with a full-svc. bar inside.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I need a good road-trip in the L about now. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

It's not really a mileage record, but I made it from Waco to Whitney in 8 mins before in my Trans-Am.

I got to Hallsville pretty fast one time. I know the group behind us was doing 120 mph and they were still losing ground. At least that's how I remember it. And I didn't see any alligators.

North side of Detroit to Lewisville (1200+) in the 94L. Great Road trip with my 18 y/o son. I think there are more roadside porno shops, per capita, in Missouri than any other state. Just an observation......

I have two of them and yes they aere in my younger days.
From Gainesville to Rowlett in 17 mins. Don't know how fast because the speedo stopped at 85 in my 95.
From Gainesville to Salt Lake City in 9 hours again don't know how fast because well I never looked at the speedo but I will tell you it is the first time I got a ticket in the mail, It had a picture of the back of my truck somewhere in AZ and it said 135 in a 55 :eek2: . That was damn expensive.
