What are c-clip eliminators?

I want:
28" Hoosier slicks
Dyno with the current mods
and battery re-location(I will engineer this one soon, any inputs on design requirements?)

Not to mention a cruise control switch that doesn't set the truck on fire.

C-clip eliminators are basically axle bearings that are pressed onto the axles and then bolted to the rear disc brake apparatus. This prevents a vehicle from going sideways into the wall if an axle breaks to the differential side of the bearing.

Right now, all we have is a small c-clip that holds the axle into place at the differential.

NHRA requires them at 10.99 or faster. I ran them on my Mustang. They will NOT stand up to road race or auto-x abuse. They will leak, eventually fail, and you'll have to have new bearings pressed onto the axle(s). But everyone told me they'd leak under normal day-to-day driving and mine didn't.

Getting them installed does require modification to the axle housing ends, not to mention the removal of the end of the axle where the c-clip would go, and the bearings pressed onto the end of the axles.

Ron needs them. My advice is that if you don't need them, don't mess with it.

Absolutely Correct..........Same with the other two safety items on my wish list. It is going to suck dialing my truck down to an 11.50 because I don't have all the proper gear.

Yep, a real pain in the arse....but supposedly JDM is coming up with some solutions to help.

Oh screw it....You give me the Vette, i'll give you the truck so you can sell it to build the Shelby. Then we can constantly race against each other. I'll let you win so you feel a sense of accomplishment in building a car that beats your "old" Vette.......:D

I would like to ship the truck to Terry to do the SVT tuner, pulley, ported Apten thing, along with some other maintenance to the truck. I have come to the point of (outside of very minor maintenance issues) only trusting Terry with my truck, but I live in Erie, PA. So I have been thinking of shipping the truck to him to get a ton of work done, fly down and drive it back.
There is also an upgrade kit for the Snuglid to upgrade it to the SL like Dougs.
Do the light mod like Dougs too.
Maybe do the stereo head unit upgrade (already done one) to get Sat radio, mine does play MP3's already.
See my list of mods already done below.

They sell an upgrade kit ??

Doug
Yep,
Sent them an email and this was the response.

Dear Dana,

Please be advised that there is a retro fit keyless kit you can purchase from our national distributor for your SnugLid SL. Keep in mind that you will have to wire this underneath the carpet liner. When we pre-wire our lids the wiring is under the fiberglass, but the first batch of SL's were not pre wired for the keyless kit. Please contact Mid America Truck Tops for pricing information and further availability on the keyless kit.

Dear Sir, I purchased a Snuglid for my 2002 Ford Lightning shortly after I purchased it in Feb 2002. I am very happy with my tonneau cover. However, I was wondering if the keyless remote option could be added to my current tonneau? i.e. is it upgradeable?
Thanks
Dana BoatmanErie, PA
If it is, where is there a local dealer that can do this upgrade? I couldn't find anything within a 500 mile radius according to the dealer locater.

I just had a cover installed on my new F250 longbed by DFW campers. It was done through the dealer so I could put the costs in with my financing. I didn't know about this automatic option. I want it. Are snug lids now comming with the wiring already in place or am I screwed because I didn't ask for it up front?

They didn't put the carpet on at DFW:hammer: , and will be doing that when I get back from Orlando. If I read correctly, I can have the wiring put in before the carpet and Snug lid does have a kit????

Suggestions???....:D

JUST DO WHAT...Ding Dong:D .

That was what I was asking. Do I have wires in my cover somewhere??? LMAO...I guess I will ask the DFW camper guys. What should something like that cost??? They screwed up by not putting my carpet on. I don't want to get screwed on this kit so they can cover the fact that they screwed the pooch on my carpet.

Rocks,
Do the upgrade and have them cover the wires under the carpet. My Snuglid didnt come with carpet and I had someone else add it. Bought it at Home Depot, got the carpet adhesive and had it done, much cheaper this way.
But there arent any wires there because there is no need for them on a basic cover. At least on mine there werent.

Guys the SL is the Single Lock snuglid

The Upgrade kit is fo rthe SL's only - The wiring can be seen in this picture

http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how-to/bedlight/600-P1020009.jpg

The white connector is part of the the integrated wiring - all the SL's have the wiring now - even if you dont order the wireless remote.

Come to the meeting next week and you can see mine
