I haven't seen any recall threads and/or notices in quite a while.
(Becoming suspisious here)
Has anyone found a list on the web or whatever that lists all the recalls and factory warranty work for the 2001-2002 model year Lightning?

TIA ......

no but talked to a guy friday night at the track in denton and he has a 2000 that blew a spark plug almost through the hood destoyed the whole motor. while normal driving on the highway. he called the dealership and they asked him before he had a chance to say anything if a spark plug blew out. he said yes they picked it up and put a new engine in at no charge. the dealership was very hush hush about this problem just said it was a flaw. how did they know about the problem if they haven't had more than his blow the plug and ruin the motor? any body else heard of this happening? he had about 40000 miles on the truck and the dealership hinted around that is was only 2000 and newer trucks.
makes you wonder!

Sounds a little dramatic to me:rolleyes: I blew a plug at 120 full boost. When they come out they just set on the intake with the coil pack. Several club members have launched them with no motor or hood damage. Plug launching is a right of passage;) I do recall Garrett getting a new motor for some reason though...

Terry,
Is that something that would be covered under warranty (extended plan) if aftermarket plugs(Denso's) are installed?

This is my worst freaking nightmare- to be out of my L for several weeks or months while I tried to pool together $$$ for a new head:hammer:

When mine blew they covered 75% of it under warranty, even though my L. was 17K miles past the warranty period. But, I was still running OEM plugs that had been installed by the dealer when they did my I/C recall.

Go to a dealer you know for that kind of stuff. It is a very well known problem but a dealer could screw you on it if they wanted to.

is there any thing on the torque converter not being stong enough to handle extra bolt ons or nitrous . i have a freind that rebuilds trans . he made alot of calls today and was told the plate in the coverter would disinagrate if run nitrous or too many performance addons . he is adding more clutches to second and third gear to strenthen the trans but with out putting a high performance converter in i won't be able to run the nitrous . his cost on the conveter is around 700$ . he is building my trans for the cost of parts alone countig the machining to add high performance red clutches thak goodness for freinds .
so i can't afford the perfomance coveter so i will look for a stock one. any body have their stock one still if you have change theirs for a good price and still in good condition let me know.

I think you can get stock remand from Repco or Trans Star local for under 200 bucks. Good luck and welcome to BDFU Racing :D

Why do you say it is a problem launching the plugs with just the 2000's and up....what about the "99's"?
Does anyone know of a "99" launching a plug?

Bill Ford Jr. is out to cut warranty expense by up to 50 percent. The dealers are paranoid at this point. The SVT Focus has numerous issues.

1. Intake clamps leak (loss of vacuum at idle)
2. Catalytic converter heat shield defective (rattles like a Yugo)
3. Various issues with surge at around 2500-3000 RPM (RLA6 ECU Upgrade issues)

By reading the Foci forums.......the problems appear on a high percentage of SVT Foci. Owners call SVT and the current trend at SVT is to play Possum and act dumb. "We have never heard of that before" it is quite apparent that someone above is putting the pressure on the program.

That Art Carr is too cheap to pass up. Or I am sure soemone has a stock pull out they would sell you. Or a enw reman'd unit. I would buy the Art Carr since it is Pro Billet. Just get the stall set low if you want a stock feel.

Stock stall is around 16-1800rpm. More HP pushes it up a little. Art Carr sells for 500 bucks labor on converter swap is 250. Of course Doug gets everything at cost:bows

Some internet whores may be selling them that cheap. Art Carr sells them for 499 direct, I think LFP has them listed for 599 on his site.

I've heard that the art carr has a very high failure rate. I know one person who had one and his died after just 200 miles.

Does anyone know of a "99" launching a plug?

mine.
