Where is the best place to look for the laws about carring firearms? I want to know when I can carry and when I can't. (rifles and handguns both)

For instance, I go to alot of swap-meets around the country and usually carry my pistol. I do not have my CHL or anything but I am usually carring ALOT of cash around with me! Am I leagl to carry my gun?

They revised laws with the advent of CHL. The main reason for CHL is to make illegal and raise the level of offense for unlawful carrying of weapons. They added the word 'directly" to the books so you are legal to carry directly to and from a legal event or place for the firearm. Old excuses like traveling out of town, carry a lot of cash are not valaid excuses any longer. I think it raised UCW to a class A misdemenor or C Felony? Get your CHL or leave it at home, or choice C) take your chances with officer disgression.

Well I sent off for my application packet today. Maybe I can get the ball rolling on this! Have any of you been to DFW gun range and training center? I think thats where I'm going to do the class at.

I had always thought that you could carry a gun with you, not on you, if you were carrying alot of cash. I'll just get the license to be safe!

the place I went to was in grand prarie right off belt line, it was on a sunday and took about 8-9 hours. We shot glock 17 9mm (if I remember right). We had the special clips that held 30 shots :d .

You can use your own gun if you want to right? I hope so, I'm use to the feel and the way mine shoots. I don't know if guns are anything like guitars but I can't play anybody's like I can play mine! (if you catch my drift)

we couldn't use are own handguns, only the glocks they provided

just fyi, in Texas it is considered "concealed" if the pistol is sitting in your passenger seat and you have window tint. I you have a CHL you legally can have it anywhere in your vehicle, with legal tint and it be considered concealed. The only place it cant be is on your dash, gotta love Texas :tu:

Same here. You could either use your own or RENT one of theirs.

That place jsut uses Glocks to pass their students, MOST places you provide your own. I would try www.TDSA.net (http://www.TDSA.net) only $75 bucks and the class goes by FAST:twitch: .
