I have the mag. cat back exhaust, the one that just bolts on stock config..I love the sound of the PFR wild system.I noticed the one i have has internal X pipe.Is it true you get more torque with back press..Does the wild sys. have X pipe and provide back press. and have the same performance as the wild sys. without the X pipe if it doesnt have one.

That didn't come out right,do they both have the same performance?

I think the gains are negligible with pretty much al catback systems, it's more of a sound(do you like the sound) investment IMO.

Crossovers do provide some horsepower gains, with a small torque sacrifice; they also quiet the sound a bit. It really has nothing to do with "backpressure" (there's a good link on the backpressure myths, but I don't have it with me), but something to do with the exhaust pulses and their timing. If you like it noisy, and don't mind giving up a couple of horsepower, then by all means get the non-crossed dual setup. Mine's the single Mag/dual-in/dual-out, with internal cross, and it's a bit louder than stock, but not as loud as the straight dual setup, and it runs great.

Putting a x-pipe on a V-8 engine equalizes' the exhuast pressures. On a V-8 it has two cylinders firing at once thus the raspy rumble that distinguishes a V-8 from a V-6.

I think thats right!

I love the sound of a true x-pipe! It really smoothes out the sound and raises the pitch a little! I ran one on a 82 Camaro that I built and it sounded mean as hell!

You can probably find out whatever you want to know about x-pipes on www.drgas.com

What I'd love to hear before I die is the sound of a V8 with a flat crank... :evil

Installed the wild system and i did notice a power-torque loss.Sounds great, really abnoctious when you stomp on it.Whoever gets my old system, changes the tips, will have a nice system.I plan on headers and cat syst. to add in future, puley tuner so im happy! Thanks to Terry and James Dean for a job WELL DONE!!!!!!!! knana

Horsepower loss, or torque loss??

Not sure what kind of loss, but doesnt seem as peppy!Engine idles much! smoother and she rolls like a big wheel in a cotton field on the highway! :tu:

Interesting... guess that makes the case for crossovers.

Magnaflow claimed like 18H.P. and 13 ftlbs torque with my old sys..There was deff. a gain. The loss after my new setup was noticable, how much i don't know.I forget the true h.p. gain on my orig. sys , but am pretty sure on the 13lbs torque.I did install an oil seperator, which is the only thing i changed on my truck, and that sucker is 1/2 full every tank of gas.

I need one of those, but I'll slap the dealership first for the oil in the intake, see what they'll do under warranty.

I have heard from several people Ford motors like back press.???

"back pressure" is a myth... all engines like FLOW, and without a crossover (see links), the exhaust pulse timings will jam up the flow a bit, and cost horsepower. The plus of a crossover is power; the minus is sound (because it quiets the sound down a bit by balancing the timing oof the pulses).

Good luck!! I wouldn't drive a L. without one.Only 50 bucks @ LFP.

I've never had any problems with oil consumption (none at all), and when I opened up the snorkel, it's soaked, and dripping off the PCV line that goes into it, so since I've got the extended warranty, I think I can get them to at least clean it up, clean up the IC, fix the tubing, and replace the PCV valves. After that, I'll put in a scavenge system. :tu:

I have had my L. since Dec. and still have no noted oil consump. on stick. From what i have learned on this site and others its just something to keep sys. clean, and still doesn't get it all. Thanks for your input on the exhaust.

ROnald has had his L for two years now, and his was clean as a whistle, but it consumes about a quart an oilchange, so go figure.

hey Beaudee
You been posting here since Nov,had your L since Dec,just made a big $375 mistake,so how about becoming a member of TALON instead of a registered user. Your posts are starting to add up, plus the L brothers here have really helped you out. Now's the time to kick it back. Get in touch with Doug, its only $10 per year. You'll be glad you did.Plus the Supporting Members won't get so tired of your registered user posts.

The loss is easily the amount that magnaflow claimed.13lbs torque and the h.p., i think 18.Very noticable!
