Jeff, steve, rob and I are on our way to pick up some new toys. Rob and I are in my L doing about 60mph in the "fast lane". Guy cuts me off, then sees that a cop has someone pulled over and slams on the brakes at the same time. It was either hit him in the rear or try and use the service lane to avoid hitting him or anything else. Well I get on the brakes and turn towards the service lane or break down lane or w/e its called. Well the rear busts loose, we hit the grass and basicly do a 180 and manage to keep it from hitting the wal. Only thing that got hurt was the tire lost air and got pushed off a tad and my bed cover shifted.

Ok, now that cop that was a ways down the road finishes his ticket and backs up to us. I tell him what happend and went to call my mom to bring my spare and jack. Im not exatcly sure what he said to Rob but I think he got a little smart and Rob laid into his arse! After Rob owned him, the cop got in his car and drove off.

Jeff and Steve finaly got turned around, and mom showed up. I want to Thank Steve for going and getting his jack and his Nitto DR so i could limp to Discount.

Heres the good part. Mom found a cop on the other side of i20 and got the cops name that left us. He just called the house and told my mom i was speeding, switched to the fastlane and then went to use the shoulder/break down lane to pass a car and lost control. Thats B/S. He said he could see me switching into the fast lane, butscope was set to look to far and didnt see the truck cut me off. Well I was in the fastlane the whole time, and if he saw me in the scope why didnt he see the truck cut me off!

Im a little pissed, I know Rob is fired up that the cop left and lied to my mom. He did say he left and sat under the bridge to watch us instead of getting into a arguement and having to do something. Or give me a ticket for wreckless driving. Im pretty fired up know that hes lieing to save his ass, but im probly still going to file a complaint on him, even tho it wont do much good.

Every complaint carries weight, two upstanding citizens or more against one officer especially. If he already has complaints in his file it may be the last straw for him.
Dallas police caused a MAJOR accident on I35 North at Motor St. When they were shooting radar from the fast lane shoulder agaist the wall jus after a bridge rise. So when speeders popped over the hill they locked brakes and caused a severe accident. They had the shut the highway down to get it worked out. I am not sure if someone died that day but Dallas PD said they would no longer shoot radar from the fast shoulder on I-35 on Channel 4.

What really chaps my arse is the fact that he did not stay and protect the situation.

He could have thrown on his lights either behind us or ahead us to warn oncoming traffic of the situation.

Instead he elected go further up the road and continue to shoot radar leaving us with traffic whizzing by at 70-80mph. Not to fun when a few feet off the road way:hammer:

Aren't they to "protect" and "serve"??

Seems like ticket quota or lining the cities coffer was the theme of the day.

I20 speed limit is 60MPH through Arlington yet the traffic regular runs 65-80mph.
You put an unmarked car on the side of the shoulder and people freak and slam on their brakes. A regular patrol car and people see it a mile off and gradually slow down not to cause an accident.

Make sure you call and report him.

Like Terry said, "Every complaint carries weight, two upstanding citizens or more against one officer especially. If he already has complaints in his file it may be the last straw for him."

Only damage was the tire lost its bead and the rim got a little scratched up. The bed cover did shift a little bit but i fixed it.

I think it's funny that in Terry's story "the cops are shooting radar and the morons who pop up over the hill lock up their brakes and cause an accident" How is that the cops fault?

I think if I were in your shoes I'd get the cop's badge number and lodge a complaint. No matter WHAT you were doing, there's no excuse for him leaving you out like that.

But, that's exactly where this country is going: "guilty until proven innocent", and the cop presumed you were "guilty".

Also, I'm not entirely clear on this: the cop sez he thought you were driving recklessly--but how did he see you, if he was in the middle of writing a ticket?? In his mirror?? Or was he gunning with laser??
