Alright i ordered a set of wheels and slicks but i dont want to use a tube. The wheels i bought are not beadlocked so if i purchase a kit do i have to send them off to have them fitted or can i do it myself fairly easily?

Thanks -Kyle-

I use MT 26x11.50 without a tube! You just have to check them often to see if they have leaked any air or not!

cool thats kinda what i wanted to hear i was just worried about them popping off without the beadlocks. i have been running w/ my nitto 555's but cant get any dang traction and my best time was an 8.8 at kennedale and 60' was like 2.1 and 2.2 :hammer: one more thing what tire pressure should i put in them? thanks -kyle-

Well, I run anywhere from 13-17psi dependeing on what the track is like! I have marked my slicks and wheels and haven't yet spun them off the marks! I wish I would have gotton bigger slicks though! Like maybe 28x10r16. I still spin the sh!t out of my 26's!

I wouldn't run a slick without a tube in it and definately use beadlocks.

The lower you run your psi. the better traction you should get, however if you let too much out it could really hurt your top end mph

keep in mind that if you put your tire pressure at say 15psi when they are cold, then after you heat them up and the tires start to get hot the could actually be 17 psi. I'm running a tubed 28" Hoosier Drag. Never had good traction with the 26" MT ET streets

if you are going to be running slicks you really need traction bars

well d@mn, i figured that was a good size b/c all the searching i have been doing it seems most L owners are running 26x11.5 atleast where i was looking. im trying to get rid of my Banshee right now so w/ that money i can get a nice amount of mods b/c i only have air raid and exhaust at the moment. hopefully these tires will do more justice than my 555's b/c i know my times should be better than an 8.8 BCLightning what size tube for 26x11.5 id rather be safe than sorry

how much do you want for the banshee?

I'm not sure on what size to run on a 26" tall slick, I'm running a 28"

You should not need tubes, bead locks or screws until you start hitting around 450 H.P.

The only reason for screws is when you start busting the bead loose on your launch. The only reason for tbes would be if the tires start leaking because of the screws.

Save your money for now. Don't do either unless you really have to. If you want to check tire slip on your wheels, put a mark with some shoe polish on your tire/wheel just before you launch. If it moves more than about 1 and a half to two inches...it is time for screws.

Terry had a hook up on some American Racing wheels. I believe they are 28x9 or so. Put some Hoosier 28x10 slicks on them...no tubes or screws;) , add about 16lbs of air. Some traction bars or Metcos. A drive shaft loop and your ready to rock. Check with Terry. I bet he can make you a good package deal for it all.;)

You can also call him at 214 923 0045. Tell him you where on the boards and Ron and Michael referred you to him. He tries to act awnry sometimes....LOL...it's his way of showing how much he likes being alive. He has a forum here also...performance research. The man is good at what he does...nobody but him works on my L.

I totally agree with Ron. He is the only one that touches my truck. He is a bit of a smart a**, but his work speaks for itself, 03LightningRocks is on the verge of 10's and I'm almost into the 11's :burnout:

Also like I was saying in the pm's I sent you, you shouldn't worry about tubes and beadlocks until the 7 sec mark in the 1/8th, it's better to be safe than sorry, but its not needed....yet :evil

I agree with Ron. Terry is the guy to deal with. He really is a nice guy, maybe he's just been a bit affected by all the idiots out there! (they know who they are, too!!) http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/flthrow.gif
