Then check this out:

TwistMachine (http://www.twistmachine.com/) is making shift controllers for automatics that are almost as fast as true paddle-shift manumatics. If what they say on their website is to believed, then this thing is gonna be plain COOL! :tu: I'm dying to get one now, if only because it'll kick ass on the open track! :d

Problem is that the paddle is just commanding the shift ....

The trans often has its own mind....

Same reason people dont manually shift the auto at the drag strip or on the open course now. THe shift doesnt happen when you slide it from 1-2 - it happens some time after that....

Unless you have an aftermarket shift controller that is doing what you want it to when you tell it to do it; that's how I was reading it on their website.

On MSR, I wasn't having trouble with the upshift at all, I was having more trouble with downshifting to the gear I wanted, so that would be a big improvement over taking my hand off the wheel to manually drop it a gear or two.

My feeling is that with an aftermarket shift controller on our trans, you would be sending it to an early grave. A real early grave.

And unless its a Ferrari it shouldnt have paddle shifting anyways. :)

I have heard of a number of blown motors and trannys from manually shifting these under performance conditions

Logans old marauder died that way ....

Hence then need to build up the trans to take it... we're already living on borrowed time with them as it is, considering how close to the rated limits we're running.

I'd rather set it up where I can use my stock wheel, and put shift buttons on the upper spokes, where I can trigger them with my thumbs.
