For me, the Adrenalin would need to have several things for me to get one as a replacement for my Lightning.

1. More performance. It would need to be quicker 0 to 60 and the 1/4 mile, handle better (higher lateral acceleration limit and better transitional response), and be faster on the top end (155 would do).

2. The ability to tow a 3500 pound trailer.

3. A paint color that doesn't scream "hey, look at me!!!" to the constablification organization (cops).

4. A overall size (length) that allows it to fit in my garage.

5. A price of not more than $45,000.00.

6. A 10-15% safety margin for mods.

Full leather, XM Radio, and a nav system would be nice too!!!

Last time I checked the stock L had less hp. But from the description above, you have to wonder if they are using the old cobra setup. The 6-speed tranny sounds pretty nice. Ford has a new asnine policy about no acceptable wheel spin. So all new Fords either have all wheel drive, turbo lag, or some type of traction management. Not sure if it comes from liability or not but they don't like burning rubber anymore.

I am not sure about the "unveiling" but I heard from the SVT rep where I bought my truck the release date for the Cobra's will be mid to late in 06. He said Ford is being very, very private about it, not letting anyone that isn't directly involved in the design and testing to see the vehicle or any photos.

Personally I think they were not expecting such a great response for the new mustang and were ready to put to cobra out in late 05 to keep the buzz up about the car. Since the mags are all still keeping the mustangs in print, I think they are intentionally delaying the cobra until the buzz/press starts to die down then start hyping the cobra.

It's growing on me, despite the fact that I dislike the SportTrac in the first place. As shown in this thread and article, it looks good, esp. since it stole all the good cues from the G3 Lightning concept.

I think that thing will do pretty well, tho, if only because it's got the third hottest motor in the Ford lineup (behind the GT's 5.4, and our 5.4s :d). If it's all it's cracked up to be, it'll be a force to be reckoned with, and will hold up the Ford performance tradition rather well.

However, Ford has had a tough time selling all of the L's they have produced since about 2002, so I see their need to try to appeal to a larger audience.

All in all, its better than nothing, not much better, but better.. I think I would rather buy a regular F150 and throw a SC on it and go from there..
Or better yet, get a diesel like Terry's or the four door version and pump up the volume with one of those.. that may be the next stop for me.. when I give my L up.. but that wont be anytime soon.

Last months article in MM & FF's clearly showed how potent that motor is. They yanked that ol'eaton and hung some twins on it and believe it got very close to 900hp. :cool:

I have mixed feelings about it. I've always liked the Sport Tracks from a utility standpoint- bed for hauling some small stuff, 4 doors to get kids and adults in/out easily.

To replace the Lightning I don't like the decision but from a marketing standpoint I can see it will appeal to more of the masses.

I doubt seriously if the door handles will be shaved like in the concept.

It would be a cool family ride.

4whl drive is sweet on something with a lot of power (ever drive a BMW X5?)
love the rear roll pan and built in wing
interior is really cool-if only ford could not make it seem cheap

The Adrenalin is way closer to the 04 Cobra in wt/hp ratio than it is to the Lightning. It only weighs 400lbs more than the 04 Cobra and is getting 4-whl drive. I am thinking this thing might hit the 12's stock. I am kinda thinking it also just might out launch an 04 Cobra off the line. With a little modifying this little thing (if they keep the wieght down) will be surprising a few of us Lightning boys.



But I also think it will suck for drivers like us to drive with this "great" feature:

As with the first Sport Trac concept, the Adrenalin will feature the Volvo-developed Roll Stability Control system, which uses on-board sensors to cut engine power and/or apply the brakes to prevent the truck from rolling over under hard cornering, and resultantly solving one of the current Sport Trac's most disconcerting problems. The system works in tandem with AdvanceTrac, Ford's anti-skid/traction control system, to help drivers maintain control in slippery conditions or emergency manoeuvres.

Hopefully this will have an off switch.

The checker then laughs, which just pisses big Bertha off more. She then lumbers out to the car with her newly purchased goods and takes her big fat, white trash ass, the hell out of there.

All of this because some cheese dick night manager decides he's done checking and customers be damned. I think I may go back tomorrow and tell him he sucks.

Yeah Guys....people are really starting to notice my more mellow approach. ....For instance, I had this big old fat mammoth, cheap hair-do wearing, half-cooked red dye, stringy-hair sportin...(taking a breath)....white trash B!tch, throw down on me in Walgreens tonight. I'm standing second in line at a different checkout than she is at. Well after the buck-tooth looser ass 40+ year old night manager finishes checking the guy in front of me he just walks off. I'm like WTF??? But I am thinking, he'll be back. So I ask the checker that is selling Big Bertha her moo-moo and leg hair straightener, if Toby plans on comming back. She says no, he does that all the time. So I say wow, isn't he a night manager? She says yep. So I say...can you do me a favor and tell him to come back.
