We bought a used Explorer a couple of months ago. The owner's manual was in the glove box, but not the code for the Keyless Entry system. We called Ford and they said we could take the copy of the ownership papers to Ford and they would be able to get us the code.

We took it to a dealer and they said they could get the code, but they had to read it with a computer and the charge was like $70.00 to do it. The previous owner was HP and somehow I don't think we're going to get too far trying to figure out what it was from them.

We also know where it was serviced regularly, but don't have much faith they'll know the answer to that one.

Anyone know of any other options?

Try looking around the edge of the tailgate hatch. I know they put a sticker with the number on it there sometimes. Make sure to look at both sides of the hatch, the actual door hatch, and where it closes on the vehicle.

On the Lightning, the master RAP code is located underneath the steering wheel. Just put your head in the drivers floorboard, look up, and follow the steering column back to the firewall - you should see a sticker with the code. YMMV for an Explorer.
