Well, I decided I wanted to buy a little more piece of mind with all of the vehicle burglary going on. So I consulted with my favorite 12V technician, Scott Raines of www.AquaAudio.com (http://www.AquaAudio.com). He is also a TALON member and former Lightning owner. His screen name is Speed n Sound or such. I knew two way technology was the only way to go. Obviously you aren't around to hear your siren during a break in. So this system pages your FOB and tells you what zone alerted! It also has remote start and turbo timer:D . I highly recomend one of you can afford it "ferris bueller voice":tu: .

Now I know criminals are not real bright but maybe just maybe they will look for this antenna just like a blinky light. Knowing that antenna will invite me to the party:evil .

I also paid for a few extras on my system. I got an internal motion/glass sensor so if they shatter or pry open the sliding window and crawl in. It goes off even if the shock sensor or door trigger is evaded. I let him know that false alarms would not be tolerated so he kept it a few days and tested it in different environments. I told him I did not want thunder, cats on the hood, loud cars, or the regular falsing sources causing problems. He adjusted the bank of sensors up to 15 times to make it an accurate system. I also added an optional module that protects your trailer or motorcycle/ATV. Each sensor registers a unique icon on the FOB. So I know if it was shock, internal motion, trailer/ATV tampering or removal etc.. It is hard to make complicated things simple but I think he did a pretty good job:bows

Damn...that is a pretty nice system. That is about 6th on the list right now (of mods) but at least it is on the list...:tu:

That's pretty nice, but I still don't think it would matter. Most of the time I am worried about it I would be too far away to get back in time - on the lake, at the movie, etc - the two way would just be a remote indication of what is being stolen and how fast. And I have yet to see anyone that hears another person's car alarm and goes running to investigate or tell someone. http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Yeah I thought about making it a silent alarm removing the LED, siren and flashing lights. But I figured the siren would give the criminals a fair chance to run away before I get there:evil . I can think of as many instances where I could use the 2 way range. If David would have used his two way alarm it would have alerted him a few times. Once when he and Doug were eating lunch 100' away in the 'Olive Garden in Lewisville' on a Sunday afternoon. And in front of his house when his 02 Harley got jacked up. Or when the great pumpkin got broken into at I2 the transmitter would have likely reached the building from the parking lot. I will use it at home, at work, at restaurants. These are all places where I would be in paging range but out of ear shot. A buddy that lives in an apt complex is getting one as well. So he can sleep better and ignore all of the sirens going off, knowing his 2 way FOB will let him know if it is his truck. He is the guy that got broke into his 2nd night there. The next week he awoke at every siren which was a LOT. After investing another 1500 bucks in stereo equipment it was well worth it. Now he sleeps and ignores the frequent sirens and just pays attention to the 2-way FOB.
I plan on responding hard and fast if ever needed. There are a lot of expensive items in my truck from time to time. I cannot always take these items out, hide, or replace some of them. The main one is my tuning bag. Though it looks like a regular bag it has over 3 grand in computers, scan tools, data logger, all customer tunes and files. Then when I go hunting I carry my rifles, and so on. It is just a reasonable measure to try and keep whats yours without constant paranoia associated with old fashioned alarms. Where you don't know if that was 'your siren' or not when you are nearby but out of direct site. I just imagine being hit like David with my truck sitting right in front of a nice restaraunt in braod daylight and never knowing it was happening. To each his own:tu:

They crawled in and out through the slider so it never went off. That is where the internal motion comes in handy. They spent a good few minutes in there un bolting the head unit and all four wheels. A beeping FOB on his nightstand would have been nice. Maybe saving a wheel or two...

Plus my new F250 did not come with PATS or keyless entry factory, no advanced security group option. So I had to do something because using your key to unlock your truck sucks:hammer: !

Agreed, Clifford rocks! I wish they had the remote paging when I had the Clifford IG-9000 installed on my Lariat that I traded in on the L.

When it boils right down to it, it sucks that you can't have anything nice for SOME people wanting to steal it.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/bash.gif

This might have to be a mod. in the future.http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

No Alarm or Lock or Concealed handgun for that matter is a perfect deterrent ... BUT IF it helps you catch the SOB or if it convinces him to move along to someone elses car or if it keeps them from cleaning you out ... Its likely worth it.... Depending of course on the cost of the install ...

Scott is the MAN whan it comes to 12v stuff ... He did a world class install on my boat ... I get compliments on it all the time. Also tweaked the system in My lightning .... He gets 2 :tu: :tu: WAY up .....

I just discovered another thing I love about this system. You can start or leave your truck running and leave the engine running. I already used it three times today, once for coffee at 7-11, loading the truck up this morning during warm up, and running into NAPA for a second. Diesels take a long time to warm up with 15qts of oil and 6 gallons of coolant. It is nice to let it warm up and make quick stops without shutting it off or worrying about leaving the keys in it:tu: .

Yes this sytem is nice I use the same alarm on my Lightning and I feel much better know when its my alarm going off, it warned me the other night the key chain wen to beeping about 2:45 in the moring at my apartment and I went down stairs to have alook and I found a couple of guys leaning agaist and looking in the window of the L. And also another nice feature is it is self teching if the alarm senses the same thing 3 times in arow (thunderstorm) with in a hour it ajust that sense till diarmed!!:tu: And the remote start opition makes it nice in the winter!

I think the height of the Super Duty helps it transmit further. I had to get groceries tonight and I parked in the middle of the lot and had good reception through out the grocery store.

It is a good alarm. My buddy has it on his T/A. Dont drop your keys though. Nate dropped his once and that is all it took to break the lcd screen.

I just got one on the L too, but its a different brand. Mine has perimeter sensors, door sensors, shock sensor, rear window switch and an internal sensor along with an internal siren. I can leave the windows down and if someone sticks there arm in it will go off. My pager works great it has a 1/2 mile range which comes in handy when you are on the tenth floor of a building and you parked in BFE. THe pager tells me which sensor has been triggered and I can arm or disarm it from my desk. Pretty fun to watch people walk by and then setting it off from my desk on the tenth floor and watching them get nervous. :rll:

Got tired of ****ers breaking into my shizznit...

Now you need to make a shooting perch from your window. And get one of these:evil The one on the right is with subsonic ammo you would never hear it over the sounds in the city.:bows The left one is still silent except for the super sonic crack.
