Anyone watching this? Growing up, fishing was an option for me and my High School friends, it seemed like a good idea work for 3 months or less and make big money. Kind of the drug dealer allure of today . Glad I choose to go to college. My wife's brother sand blasts water towers, various industrial plants, and bridges, same deal, really dangerous work, but big money.

I have it set to record
Interesting show...
I did X ray work in Tanks pressure vessels - Glad to be out of that line of work ...
Iridium 192 is not a good co pilot for long trips ...
Cobalt 60 is even worse

Just joking kind off, but doesn't both of those elements cause hair loss?

I have watched each week. I think it's a great show. I think it puts a whole new prospective on eating crabs and what those guys have to go through to catch them. Might make you think the next time you order some. Those guys were catching some serious air when they were jumping around the deck as the boat was cresting those big waves. :d

That pussy did work the crane and the boat did fine in the end.. He is the same guy that fell overboard last year and nearly died. THe boat he was on was a complete POS. He is lucky he didnt break the ankle, his foot dropping in the hole in the deck the way it did..

Funny guy ...
Unfortunately I cant blame the hair loss on that. Often hair grows back after a big dose. I was radiation safety officer and was lucky to never have recieved any big doses. Most of my carreer I worked with X ray machines.
John Armstrong from Houstons Son and I worked for the same outfit in Louisiana at one point...

I watched the show as well. Things must have changed, because a few years ago I watched the "Deadliest Catch" special and they made it out to be that the guys on the ships made like $150k in 2 months. Now it's down to $10k in 3 days. I guess that is a lot for only working 3 days, but damn ... $10k isn't enough for me to risk my life, that's for sure.

I didn't see the show, but if the pay is now 10k in 3 days, that's 100k in 30 days. Since you said it used to be 150k in 2 months, wasn't that a raise?
Again, I didn't watch the show. Maybe they don't go out every day and most likely don't get paid for landlubber time.

King Crab Season is very short. It was only about 72 hours this time around. I think the usual time is 1 week....could be wrong. Other types of crab don't pay as well as King Crab.. Kings are $5-$8 per pound with some of those big ones at 6 pounds each. That big boat had over 12,000 pounds of crab on board

Reminder new show in an hour, but the CMA's are on so a tough choice for me.

That's what a dual tuner TiVo is for. Once you start to use it, you'll never go back! Deadliest Catch will be waiting for me pre-recorded when I get home. heh

Yep, TiVOs rock! We've got two.
I've also seen that those Crab-Crews make crazy-money for hazardous duty, too.

Thought I would bring this thread back again, new season starting tonight.
We used to watch it, I will start again, it is pretty amazing stuff when you think about how dangerous it is.
