TMS Charity Laps on 5/14/05

The Texas Motor Speedway charity laps event will be on Saturday May 14th. The cost is $25 for 3 laps. Not sure what time they start letting us in, probably around 6pm. Who wants to go?

This is a stupid question but, is this a paced thing or do you get to open 'er up? I've never been to one of these so just trying to figure out how these things work.

It is paced, but what all of us do is hang back from the pace trucks and then nail it for a little while. You can get up to about 110 to 120 or so. If you have never felt the banks of the track before, you need to do it. Plus it goes to a good cause.

Nooo... don't do that. The pace trucks will see what you are doing, then slow down the whole group. Then the whole group will be pissed at you, even though everybody told you that is what you should do.:nono:

:nono: This will be my third time to go. I did it the other two times. I admit, i only got to about 95 last time. But the time before that I went faster. It depends on the person who is organizing it.

Yes, it is paced and those banks are STEEP when you pull out of the grid, but at speed - you "sit" right in them and keep on haulin'!

Let's make plans to meet up somewhere ahead of time and head out in a convoy. I say the N. Dallas crew meets up at Hooters in Addison on Belt Line. Sound like a plan??

Hey...am I the only one that's going to be at Hooters tomorrow??

Let's plan on all trying to get there at the same time to get a big group on the oval. I honestly don't want to sit in line all night, so I plan on being there early. I'll be at Hooters at around 4 or so and will plan to head to TMS @ 5-ish. If anybody needs my cell number, drop me a PM.

If nobody confirms that they are going to meet at Hooters then I will just head straight to TMS from the Clubhouse...

well im not going to be able to make it out to anything..... I was hoping my bilstiens would hold out a bit longer or my qa1s that are on back order would show up soon... Well my drivers side rear shock is toast. My truck sits about how jeffs did but on the drivers side rear its about to tuck tire and the other side is still sitting pretty much where it should be.

I put on my shock extenders and smaller bumpstops to see if i could creep out there. But on the highway when i hit a bump the rear hits the bump stop and makes the front end bounce funky.... :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Ive missed out on all the other tms charity laps and im finaly in town or have my truck and i cant go again..... :bs

It was awesome!!!! I did it 3 times it was so much fun. The last time out I had Steve-O in front of me and a Z06 behind me. They had pace trucks staggered out every 3rd car or so. Going around one turn I let Steve-O get way ahead of me and punched it up to about 100-something and the Vette was right on my butt! I slowed back down when I caught up to Steve-O and then started getting my cushion back so I could make another blast going into the turn. I look back and the pace truck is flying trying to catch us to pull us over. Jeff was riding shotgun and he was like man that fool is going to pull us over GO GO GO!!!! SO I hit it again and we burned off and left his ass. This was the final lap so it was all good. On the way out I set the line lock in the tunnel and gave Tom a smoke screen. It was a badass day. Clubhouse carshow in the morning and TMS that night. Nice little Saturday.

:beer: Good times as always and donating some money for charity for a good cause is cool. Event was well organized and you could have easily lined up by groups or car clubs. Things flowed very well with little to no waiting. Overall volume of cars was down but still very fun.


It was nice hanging out with everyone afterwards:cool:
